# Anyone get a cool calendar for Christmas?

It’s that time of year again, and despite both Christmas and my birthday happening in the last few weeks, nobody bought me a calendar. So I’m on my own for this important decision. What calendar should I buy?
My standard go-to calendar is a [Pug Shots](http://www.amazon.com/2012-Pug-Shots-Wall-Calendar/dp/1423809904/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1357143257&sr=8-3&keywords=pug+shots) calendar, but they don’t appear to have published one for 2013. I’m not too into just a generic Pug calendar; I’m into pugs, but not THAT much. The Pug Shots one was kind of artsy and neat, but I’m not finding another like it.
So what cool calendars to do you have? I’m looking for a wall-type calendar, preferably with nifty pics that make me go “Oooh, that’s a good one!” when I flip the month. Does not have to be pugs. General art is good, as is nifty photography. Or anything else. What do you like?

Personally, I get a Martha’s Vineyard calendar every year. In July. It’s always 4 long months before I can put it up.
But my mom gets rooster calendars. Every month features a really odd looking rooster. I keep hoping that someone will resurrect the Ed Abbey Wilderness Calendars, but every year I am disappointed.

My fridge calendar this year is a neat full-size one that came inside an issue of a magazine I subscribe to.

I used to date a girl whose father was an engineer for CN Rail. Every year I’d get a sweet CN calendar with lots of trains hauling freight all over North America.

I get a cool one that’s priceless. You can’t buy one. My wife’s cousin has three kids and they make a calendar each year. Each month is on a separate 6" X 8" card with their artwork and drawings. For each kid’s birth month it has a picture of that kid. I pin the whole thing on my office wall in a 3 X 4 matrix so I can see the entire year.
It’s a great gift that I look forward to each year.

My 2012 calendar was “antique maps”. Haven’t bought a 2013 one yet (I usually wait and get them at a big discount).

This is the first year my mother-in-law didn’t buy us calendars for Christmas, so I had to go choose my own calendar at the year-end sales. So many choices! So much pressure!
I ended up with an [I Can Haz Cheezburger](http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/2013-i-can-has-cheezburger-wall-calendar-cheezburger-inc/1111575299) calendar, because I wanted cats and pickings were pretty slim. It was that or the Yoga Cats. I was standing there in the calendar store, in front of six hundred dog calendars showing off every possible breed, and _two_ cat calendars. There was a big label for the “DOGS” section, but the cats were under “ANIMALS.” Discrimination!
Next year I’ll make my own out of good photos. The big photo sites all have great sales on DIY calendars around the holidays.

Thanks to all the suggestions. Though a lot of them were cool, none were cooler (or cheaper!) than this [nifty Kandinsky calendar](http://www.momastore.org/museum/moma/ProductDisplay_2013%20Kandinsky%20Wall%20Calendar_10451_10001_132177_-1_11523_41170_132196) I found on sale.
It was tied with a Miro from Amazon, but won out because it’s so damn cheap. (Yeah, I had to pay shipping, but that doesn’t count in my world.)

I had forgotten that I made a charitable donation a while ago, and was completely surprised to find the Derek Zoolander 2013 End of Syphilisation calendar in my mailbox last week.
February is, of course, Black History Month, the month where we celebrate how black makes you look super skinny.
