# Anyone grown their own tea? (Camellia Sinensis)

Looks like it’s been a few [years](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=317447&highlight=Camellia+sinensis)since we did this thread. Since then, has anyone else tried it? If so, where did you get it (… some online garden sources carry bareroot shrubs) and how well did it grow? Was the tea any good?

I live in N. Texas, and it seems like it might grow well here. I got curious … green thumb and/or tea-loving Dopers, chime in?
