# Anyone have a Sony 5 disc DVD Player?

I had a Sony 5 Disc DVD player that died, it was probably about 3 years old. I went out and got a new one which is basically exactly the same. I noticed though that when the carousel spins it seems to vibrate a little bit. My wife swears the other one did this too, but I never noticed it before. If anyone else has one could you please see if it does that. To check it, eject the tray and then hit disc skip so it rotates the carousel. You should be able to hear the vibration, or feel it if you put your hand very lightly on the carousel as it’s spinning. I normally notice more towards the second half of the rotation. That is, if it takes 1.5 seconds to rotate from one disc to the next, I notice it more in the last .75 seconds. Does that make sense?

I have one that is about 5 years old. I don’t remember a vibration, but there is certainly a noise as it rotates. I’ll try your test when I get home.

Noisy and slow, yes: can’t say I’ve noticed vibration, either. Will look into it.

I’ve got one about 4 or 5 years old. I’ve never noticed a vibration while it is turning. I’ll double check it tonight.

Noisy and slow I’m aware of, but there is a very slight vibration that concerns me. It’s not that big of a deal, I’ll just return it and get a new one. It’s taking it out of the entertainment center I’m really not looking forward to.

I feel your pain. At least it’s not the receiver.
I’ve had the worst luck with Sony components though. The two receivers before my current one were Sonys and both died after a couple of years each. I had a Sony six disk CD player and the tray won’t eject anymore. Good luck.

No vibration on mine. It’s noisy going clockwise, but quiet going counter-clockwise.
