Back in [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=595935) thread, **needscoffee** asked if anyone has an OOMA. No one responded. So, in the two years since that thread, has anyone started using an OOMA for their land-line phone service? How do you like it? ---

No, I haven’t bought one because I haven’t found a standalone ISP that’s cheaper than ISP+landline. I’d sure like to, though. ---

Yes, I have one. I’ve been using it for a few years and have been happy with it. I have the basic service, so my fees are ~3 USD per month. Call quality is fine (that is, no one can tell I’m not on a land line). ---

I have one. I love it. I pay the $10/month for the extras, and the “Community Blacklist” is worth that amount all by itself. ---

I have had a competitor to Ooma for the past 3 weeks. I have Time Warner Cable, and “cut the cord” by ending cable service and the cable box rental fee, cancelled the home phone service, and purchased my own Motorola cable modem, so no more modem rental fee. I kept the 15Mbps internet and signed up for Netflix. We now have NetTalk Duo for our voip service. It was $50 to buy the little device, and I paid $20 to port my home phone number from TWC over to NetTalk. The first year is free, after that it is $30 which works out to $2.50 per month. The call quality seems the same as what we got from TWC. It was easy to set up and works flawlessly. I made a mistake during the porting process, so I called their customer service number and actually spoke to a live person (in the USA!) who easily fixed my error. Doing all this reduced my cable bill by over $100 per month. No regrets. ---

I’ve used one for my “business line” for about three years. Paid $120 for a closeout and now everything is free. Quite happy, but every once in a while I notice a little latency such that the conversation has some fits and starts compared to a land line. Apparently that’s the nature of any VOIP. ---

I have one as well. It works like a charm–no issues or problems.
