Blackadder - um I mean Rowan Atkinson - is why we watched Bernard and the Genie in the first place. Then I wanted to know what else this Lenny Henry guy has done (Non-holiday related answer: Chef! which ranks among the funniest Britcoms ever. Read the memorable quotes in IMDB if you don’t believe me.) Yup, Mama Zappa and her triple-husbandoid (well, triple-sized husbandoid) lurves us some Blackadder.

Not related to the topic at all, but Lenny Henry reads the audio book version of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys, and he is just freaking brilliant. It may be my favorite audio book of all time.

If you’d like something a bit sweeter and nicer, may I recommend A Christmas Without Snow? A friend of mine put me on to it years ago.

Here’s the plot: a woman has moved to San Francisco after a divorce. She’s trying to put her life together and face her first Christmas in a new city and, as part of that, she joins a choir which is going to sing Handel’s Messiah. John Houseman plays a curmudgeon cut from the same mold as his character on The Paper Chase and has some of the best lines in the movie. It’s a good movie to watch while curled up with friends and a good cup of hot chocolate.

i remember watching A Christmas Without Snow late one night on the ABC station in my area after the late news it must have been in 1987 or 88 because i was up and my folks were in bed i kept the voliume low just to avoid them getting mad at me

i had * A Christmas Without Snow* on VHS when i was little so maybe that’s where i saw it not on TV. I do remember watching it one night with my parents on Christmas eve in 86 when i was 2 years old i saw that movie in school in 91 too because the teacher had a copy and i told her i also had a copy too
