It wasn’t working when my husband came home from work yesterday. We’re getting messages from the equipment that something might be in the way of the dish, yet we see nothing there. Deeper exploration says that the dish can’t see one of the two satellites it’s supposed to see.

Online research says that DISH launched a satellite from Kazakhstan and it did’t get up into the orbit it was meant for.

Anyone else having problems? Before we call a DISH guy out and have to take a day off work, I’d like to know if it’s a widespread problem due to satellite fail.

Various troubleshooting fixes by my husband, working with an online DISH chat tech, seem to narrow it down to our satellite dish being out of alignment. It has been up there for fifteen years, and I know that various critters like to land on it (hawks, crows, squirrels), so it makes sense that that could be the issue. A technician is coming tomorrow to adjust it if it’s not still pointed at the satellites.
