I had Plantar Fasciatis about two years ago…it wasn’t really getting better, and my Podiatrist suggested surgery. I went for a second opinion to another Podiatrist that I knew…he basically thought the first guy skipped a bunch of non-surgical options, got me into a better set of orthotic inserts and did a series of PT with stretching exercises. It took a few months, but I’m much better.
I still have a bunion, and that seems to be getting worse…so I may still have surgery in my future. But not for the PF.
Look into getting a temporary handicapped placard (if that’s appropriate for where you live); there will be days where you’d like to go somewhere, but can’t make a long distance from car to door, and this might be helpful (I had one when I broke my foot).
Skammer, how has your foot been since you started this thread? It seemed like you were planning on orthotics / other less drastic options vs. going straight for surgery, which seemed like a very good idea.
ive been doing all of the non surgical treatments for over a yr now & still no relief…i have 2 spurs on left & 1 on right heel (also had some in my neck)…ive tried the injections (yes they hurt like crazy), anti-inflammatory meds, heel cups, new shoes ( seen some post about the sketchers shape ups…my podiatrist said those was awful for ppl with heel spurs…puts more pressure on the heels…he suggested the new balance shoes), surgery where the tendon was released, & then the custom orthodic inserts…he said the othodic inserts was my last hope…well im not accepting that because im only 42 yrs old & can barely walk because of this issue…i go see an orthopedic surgeon on tues so hoping he will do the surgery to actually remove the spurs cause something has to be done
I have Plantar Fasciatis in both feet.I had the operation to remove the one and it was very painful.I had blood clots afterwards.4 years later he is back again and even bigger that before.I tried so many things but nothing help.:smack:
I’m pretty sure that walking and running in the shape-ups is what caused my PF to get so bad. I started getting knee pain from them and then it lead to horrible heel pain. There have been multiple class action suits against skechers because of the health problems these shoes cause. don’t do it. I had the surgery a few weeks ago. I’m hoping it will help. NOTHING else did.
