> In the interest of science, I read through Risha’s links and found a crude quiz for “Are you a visual spatial leaner” [PDF link](http://www.visualspatial.org/Product_Marketing/UDB/vslquiz.pdf). As a baseline, I was a “yes” to all but number 16. I guess I am probably a visual-spatial thinker. I never knew that about myself!

Taking that quiz, I scored a 13. But when I **think** I think in words. There is a difference to me between working things out in my head and thinking. I can’t explain it, but it’s like having different programs on the computer to do different tasks.

While typing this post, my brain is telling me (in words) what to type next. When I am trying to figure out how to get my car unstuck from a mud puddle, there are no words, only thoughts – disconnected things that are neither word nor picture, only concepts. When I do math in my head – only numbers. Each function my brain performs, it does so in a different manner so as to be more efficient. Does that make sense?

I have a slight random lisp with my “s” sounds, it isn’t Cindy Brady bad, but still there. I had jaw surgery and a lot of dental reconstruction as a teenager that left me with a mouth-shape that makes the “s” challenging for me to do consistently. Like shooting basketball, I can effortlessly speak perfectly for long stretches and then, lose the zone I’m in, and just start throwing bricks with failed “s” sounds.

Fruthtrating.

_raises hand_ I’m another person who had speech therapy as a child. People used to make fun of me all the time and I still think I have a little bit of a lisp now. Only when I use words that start with ‘s’ though. My other half says I dont anymore but I think its one of those ‘trying to spare my feelings’ deals!
