# anyone know what this manga film is?

now then, this will probably testing memories. in about 82/83, when i was 5 or so, me and my dad watched a manga film on video.  
the basics are, hero who flys a spaceship thats shaped like a shark plays a cat and mouse game in a big asteroid field against a bad guy with a big black beard. (it might be the bad guy flying the sharkship)  
this is near the end of the film. i think the good guy dies, and leaves behind a wife and child, who are left in a spherical ship all alone on a beach at sunset.

any manga peeps out there have a clue which film it is? probably late 70s/early 80s vintage, and the i know the above details are a bit sketchy, but it was 20 odd years ago

or it might be better if i say anime film rather than manga
