I swear I’ve seen it somewhere before, but can’t place it. Looks familiar, I think I saw it as part of an ad for a video game very recently. If I see it again I’ll grab it. Where did you get the image? ---

I noticed it as part of the patterning on an illustration of a dinosaur; I don’t know if it was an intentional thing or not, and it’s just nagging at me that it’s too familiar to likely be a coincidence. ---

So, I talked to the artist who created the illustration, and he was of course highly amused, but says he didn’t intend for it to be a reference to anything in particular; he was just going for an off-center eyespot-type of patterning. And I decided it looked closest to the Star Wars Rebel Alliance symbol after all.
