My Name is Earl fell off the tracks around the 3rd Season when he went to prison. Those episodes were unwatchable and in my opinion screwed up the series and the ratings fell. I wish they would of stayed on course with the original idea. It did have Tim Stack in it. I hate Tim Stack. I do like Raising Hope and hope Andy Garcia learned his lesson from Earl and not take this series down a weird path with no return. ---

[Here](http://www.slate.com/id/2272286/)is an interesting article from [Slate.com](http://Slate.com) regarding how a person with mental illness can pass their symptoms onto another person who is close to them. It is called “folie à deux” as mentioned earlier by **Der Trihs**. I have decided that there is a pretty good chance that this is all an elaborate hoax (a la Joaquin Phoenix) to simply get a bit of publicity for Randy Quaid’s flagging career. When he was reading that poem he wrote for his dog upon release from his Vancouver jail stint, he could hardly keep a straight face. This probably started with some legitimate, (if drug-induced) paranoia but now he knows that he may be facing some fairly serious legal trouble in California (since he and his wife have recently pulled similar stunts and are already on probation) so he is purposely playing up his delusions to minimize his criminal culpability and maximize his newfound publicity. (I really believe that these days, in general, no publicity is bad publicity unless you cross into the O.J. or Phil Spector zone). This may be the role of a lifetime for the old asshole, and I guess he is going balls-out to be convincing… ---

He says he’s earned $40 million in his career and apparently his brother (who if he isn’t A-list has at least had visiting privileges there) is on the scamming of him. M’kay. Of course $40 mil is a drop in the bucket to what Mike Tyson, Ed MacMahon, and Burt Reynolds and Nicholas Cage earned in their respective careers (adjusted for inflation in the cases of Burt and Ed) and they wound up broke. (One of the articles said that when he declared bankruptcy a few years back he had a 25,000 square foot home in Beverly Hills and homes in Malibu and Telluride- it doesn’t take a whole lot of that kind of spending to add up, especially when after taxes and agents and the like he’s not keeping anywhere close to $40 million.) My guess would be that he and his wife tried to live like Aaron Spelling and hired their business managers through Craig’s List and upon learning that there’s little left the answer is obvious: “Dennis and the agents got it cause they’re rich!” Oh, and somebody is killing their drug abusing friends. ---

If I understand correctly, if Randy Quaid is successful he will be the first American IN HISTORY to qualify for refugee status in Canada. I had never thought about it before, but it surprises me that this has NEVER happened before. I guess I thought that maybe during Vietnam, draft-resisting Americans were granted refugee status, but it must have been called something else? ---

Tories fleeing the aftermath of the American Revolution; escaping slaves on the Undergound Railroad; Confederate guerillas who raided St. Albans, Vt.; young men dodging the Vietnam War-era draft; and Christian activists opposed to Reagan’s Central American policies have all sought refugee status in Canada over the years - I’m sure the laws have changed quite a bit, though. ---

They’ve certainly sought refuge, but I doubt the legal concept of refugee status even existed back at the time of the Revolutionary War. I think the question at hand is wheter Americans avoiding the draft during Vietnam by moving to Canada were officially classified as “refugees” or as something else. ---
