I met my husband at a bar. I was there with a girlfriend and she introduced us. We chatted a bit and I think he bought us a beer. I ran into him a couple times at the grocery store and we chatted some more. Then one Sunday afternoon I was sitting on my front porch when he drove by. He stopped, said he was going fishing and asked if I wanted to go along. I did (didn’t catch anything but him), and we’ve been together ever since. ---

Love of my life? No. But I did meet a very special woman in one once. I had not showered or shaved, and was wearing clothes that really needed to be washed. I was dragged there to hear a friend’s band play. The woman I met was pretty awesome, and I could have easily fallen in love with her. Too bad I was a jackass that made her dump me after two months. But it all turned out for the best. ---

Well, the love of a few years anyway. Met at a bar, went back to his place for what I thought would be a one-night stand and then spent about 4 years together. ---

2 of my 3 sisters have been married more than 25 years each to guys they met in bars. Me, I met my wife in law school, so I guess we were preparing for the bar… ---

Sure did. I’d been going to this bar for about a month. One of the regular bartenders was on extended leave visiting family back in Quebec. She got back and I was immediately the smitten kitten. I pursued her for more than a year, then she came to her senses and saw this was a good thing. We went out for two years and have been married for one and a half. ---

are there “bar people” and “non bar people”? Most of my friends go to bars pretty regularly and they tend to be reasonably attractive, well educated and relatively successful. Although a lot of them are perpetually single…so maybe that’s a bad example. The downside of meeting someone in a bar generally has to do more with the fact that most people seem a lot more interesting at 1am when everyone is a little drunk, the lights are low and everyone is dressed up and having a good time. For the most part, I’ve found that a lot of people seem very different in the light of day. I think it all depends what kind of bar you go to and what kind of crowd is there. ---

I should add, I met my ex-wife in a bar. She was having drinks with a mutual friend. I saw them at the bar talking and since I knew the mutual friend I joined them between dart games (was playing in a dart league at the time). My mutual friend eventually left and I stayed on a work-night until the bar closed talking and laughing with her. Since we both lived on the same side of town, I offered to follow her home to make sure she was safe. (wink, wink) I got a handshake and “nice to meet you” in her drive-way. Got in touch with her the next day through the mutual friend. 4 years of dating and then 5 years of marriage before things came to an end. We’re still very close friends though. 🙂 MeanJoe ---

First time I met **Geobabe** (my wife of six years) was at a bar, at a DopeFest in Chicago. She was with another dude and I was with another chick, but things worked out for us pretty well. ---

I had been recently dumped, and tired of moping in my room. So I decided to go out and get laid. He was cute and, more importantly, receptive to my advances. I took him home with me, fucked his brains out, and assumed he’d leave in the morning and we’d never meet again. Instead, the next morning he said “Hey, want to go to the aquarium?” 🙂 We went to the aquarium, had a wonderful time, and had a long conversation afterwards in which we discovered we had A LOT in common. We moved in together about three months later, and got married about a year ago (after living together for 3 years or so). So not only did I meet the love of my life in a bar, he was supposed to be a one-night-stand. ---
