Whatever happened to them? Screenprinted shirt…cuordoroy shorts… they were all the rage in 1983, then they just disappeared. I get the feeling they continued to sell clothes, but for some reason they and middle America fell out of love in the late 80s. I saw an online ad and they are definitely shooting for the same demographic as before, white bread americans who want to pretend they are surfers. (see - it was perfect for me) [Op.com](http://Op.com) even offers “hip tips!” Pete Wentz is a spokesmodel. Yaayy! Anyway, where have they been for the last 20 years? ---

Wow, I haven’t thought of OP clothes in years. I had several pairs of the courduroy shorts in middle school and high school (late 70s/early 80s). They were very comfy. ---

I remember them - the company I used to work for stocked them in shops on board cruise ships. To me, it was just another brand that arrived, was momentarily popular, then went away again - like all the others - Joe Bloggs, NafNaf, etc ---

Oh hells yeah! That was my entire wardrobe when I was a high school senior. Man, was I cool at one time! I think I still have a few shirts and a pair of white, velcro-fly pants back in the closet somewhere, just in case. ---

I remember when I was stationed in Hawaii, (circa 1990-1995) OP T-shirts were still sold in Surf shops and the like. They seemed to be on their way out at the time making room for other “trendy” designs by Quicksilver, Hurley, DC, and the like. ---

Strangely enough, there are OP advertisements all over the Perez Hilton site today. I guess they’re trying to cash in on the fact that everything 80s is cool again. …or so my ummm… friend told me. I’d never be caught dead reading online gossip. _whistles innocently_ ---

I loved my OP corduroy shorts. unfortunately, they had a very common failure mode-if you were wearing them, and slid sideways into your fron car seat, you stood a good chance of ripping them open. It is not only inconvenient, it can be embarrassing too! :smack: As for “hang Ten” who owns the brand now? I have noticed that many American brands disappear-only to find new life in S. America, asia, etc. For example “LAGUNA” (sportswear0 is now a big brand in Asia, 'McGregor" is big in Brazil. ---

You can get OP branded flip flops at…either Meijer or Wal Mart. I have a pair, and I think they were maybe $3. They’re the kind that shred the space between your toes after 10 minutes. OP is another “fallen” brand where they’re sold at the cheaper stores now. Kind of like “Starter” brand athletic stuff, which when I was a lad people paid serious money for and now your kids wouldn’t be caught dead in it. I do. I rembember having a few of them during my days as a teenager. If I remember correctly, they were a little on the pricey side so I never had many although I found them to be quite comfortable and stylish. ---

I remember one of my favorite shirts as a kid - an orange one with a yellow flower embroidered in front - was an OP shirt! Funny, I haven’t thought about that shirt in years, but the minute I saw the thread title it was like a light clicked in my brain. ---
