I did a quick search, and it didn’t look like there were any posts on this yet, but it looks like Jack Chick’s got a [new tract](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1026/1026_01.asp)! Not bad, but not great either. ---

OK I gotta ask, why so much interest in chick tracts around here. He is just some nutty religious guy who pontificates with unfunny cortoons, isn’t he? Am I missing something? ---

Oh, I like that. If you have faith, your guardian angel will save you from death by snakes or knife-wielding guys in dark alleys. So if something bad happens to you, it must be because you didn’t have enough faith. Why do bad things happen to good people? It doesn’t matter if they’re good if they haven’t accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And if they say they have, they’re probably lying, or else something bad wouldn’t have happened. ---

He’s a disgusting liar who brands anyone who doesn’t believe the hateful stuff he believes as Evil Inarnate. On the other hand, he’s kind of famous/infamous for his drawings in those tracts. Here’s another sad thing. Two weekends ago, I went shopping downtown looking for a bilingual Bible (English/Korean), one with the KJV. Only one I can find is the so-called KKJV/KJV translation. It comes in a nice little box to protect it and in the box is a catalog of Chick tracts in Korean. ---

Many people have some sort of perverse fascination with them. I think it has something to do with camp, but it’s better than that. Speaking of which, has anyone seen [this](http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0900/0900_01.asp?wpc=0900_01.asp&wpp=a)? Comparing Chick tracts to Communist brainwashing propaganda is surprisingly honest for ol’ Jack Chick. ---

I was disappointed that there was not a panel featuring the three brothers roasting in Hell as devils jabbed them with pitchforks. ---

Snif. As a Catholic I feel neglected once again–I felt sure Hypocrite Brother Charlie would become a Cardinal or even the AntiChrist himself–the Pope! :eek: And, again, no “HAW HAW HAW!” It ain’t right. I did like the boss telling one bro to decide between Jesus and his job. Funny, it didn’t look like Afghanistan. ---

Is it me or is the guy trying to knife Johnny either a Chinese charicature or a Charles Addams cartoon? And the pimp looks a lot like Tony Clifton. And Tony Clifton was played by Andy Kaufman, who some said was not really dead and would rise again… in 2005… and Christ and Clifton both start with a C, and both were born Jewish and had dark hair… Oh mon Dieu, it’s _The Jack Chick Code_! Where will it lead? Could it be that Little Suzie is a direct descendant of Christ? My brain hurts! ---

All right! The bad guys are professing Christians too, and one of 'em’s even a famous TV preacher with a megachurch! The loony extremist Christians have started eating each other! Anybody else wonder what the initials in “Reverend Dr. Charles Z. W. Sawyer, D.D.” stand for? (And Jack, you dope, you don’t use the title “Dr.” **and** the letters of the doctoral degree **simultaneously**. The guy’s **either** “Rev. Charles Z. W. Sawyer, D.D.” **or** “Rev. Dr. Charles Z. W. Sawyer”. Maybe Jack is consciously using delicate sarcasm here to point up how pompous and self-promoting Charlie is, but somehow I doubt it.) More musings: Do pastors still take hot soup to the sick? Do ladies still generally wear hats to church, especially straw boater hats with little posies on the front? Somehow Jack’s picture of the social life of the godly seems permanently stuck in the 1930’s. ---

Ahh. Chick Tracts… how perfectly loveable and cosy! That’s the super great thing about SDMB.
