Brilliant sunshine here for the past week. Unfortunately, that also means temperatures hovering between about +5 to -15. Pretty, but we be the frozen chosen. At least Iā€™m not in Fairbanks. ---

Here. Itā€™s 90 fucking degrees and so hot I just wanna die. No point in swimming because the pool is like bathwater. Waaaaaaaaah. ---

Indeed, Primaflora. Regular Dopers will be aware that I remain a very keen and avid road racing cyclist dude, and I still do 300+ klms per week even now in my early forties. Well, these past few days have been murder. 90% humidity or higher, and well up in the mid 90ā€™s in Farenheit - and probably over 100 F anywhere inland. I canā€™t begin to describe how dehydrated Iā€™ve been these last few days - that is, obviously Iā€™ve been drinking up to 7 litres of drinks per day, but the dehydration from the 60 mile rides has been massive. Even my little 13 month old daughter has been averaging over 2 litres of drinks per day. So, as they say, it never rains, but it pours, huh? Itā€™s the mega humid hot winds which are the killer. If they were dry winds at least your sweat would be doing something positive, but when itā€™s 90% humidity and so incredibly hot, well, it seems as though youā€™re just a walking human version of fly paper all day long! šŸ˜ƒ Still, it only lasts for a little while and then the gentle cool sea breezes return. ---

Itā€™s going to be 38 degrees here on Sunday (thatā€™s 100F). Iā€™m off to [Summadayze](http://www.inthemix.com.au/whatson/listevent.php?id=9769), which is a festival to be held at an outdoor amphitheatre in the middle of a paddock. Reckon Iā€™ll make it home without dehydrating? šŸ†’ ---

I live across the water from the OP, about ten miles away, and there was a definite sighting early this afternoon. Bleak, pale, not very warming, but stillā€¦ And I noticed that there was still some daylight left after 4 p.m., so there is hope. However, if I had the money to spare, Iā€™d get on plane to the Canary Islands tomorrow and bake in the sun for a week. I need them vitamins. ---

I spent one year in Germany and didnā€™t mind the winter too much, but then I think it was a fairly mild winter. From what I hear, this yearā€™s winter in Europe is unusually severe.
