Just curious. There’s this statistic that’s something like: If you put 100 people in a room, there’s a 70% chance that two will share a birthday. I figure with so many Dopers, SOMEONE must share my day–March 11th. ---

In my 37 years of life, I’ve only met one person with my exact DD/MM/YY of birth and one other person with DD/MM of birth. What about others? ---

I have **never** met anyone with my birthday–October 16. Yet I know (or have known) four people with August 19 birthdays and six with September 29. ---

I spent a significant part of my first 18 years in the same room with someone who shared my birthday: my mom (Jan. 27, also the birthday of Mozart and Lewis Carroll, not to mention Bridget Fonda, who was born on the same day of the same year as I was – pretty good company, all in all). Actually, we believe the doctors may have fudged my birth certificate (I was officially born at 11:58 PM on my mom’s b-day), but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. One of my dad’s brothers has a daughter born on my dad’s birthday, and I have personally known two other parent-child duos who shared the same birthday. Amazingly, I have met several people with my birthday. At least 7 or 8. It’s March 1st, happy birthday to me and all those 7 or 8!! ---

My birthday is August 10…I share it with an aunt. Our family has another aunt/cousin set who share August 6. aha - my mom & my father-in-law have Nov. 17th as their birthday. ---

Sho nuff – the probability that, in a room of 22 people, two of those people share the same birthday is about 0.5, or 1/2. As the number of people in the room gets close to 100, the probability that 2 people DON’T share the same birthday becomes vanishingly small. Note, though, that nobody ever said the probability that someonw will have the same birthday as YOU, only that two people will have the same birthday. Eissclam. ---

My dad is March 11th. Not a doper, but close enough. I have the same birthday (Feb 14) as fellow doper Diane. * * * Voted Rookie of the Year in MPSIMs and the Pit, along with Best One-liners. And I don’t plan on keeping this as my sig for long, just until the winning buzz wears off. ---
