I was in this store at the mall called “As Seen on TV” and one of the things sold there was the 48 Hour Hollywood Miracle Diet. I have seen this stuff before but what I didn’t realize is that the contents of the 32 oz bottle is all you consume during that entire time period aside from water. The claim is that you can lose 10 lbs in 2 days and mention is made of detoxifying. Well, it happens that later this month I will have the house to myself for 48 hours and I am considering trying it. I know, I know, it’s probably not so healthy! But it is bathing suit season and I’ve been dieting in a healthy manner for months. Anyway, I wonder about a few things. First of all: does it taste as awful as it looks? Does it give you a major case of the runs? Do you feel like you could chew off your own arm sometime the first afternoon? Do you really lose the weight? I would appreciate hearing the experiences of those of you who have tried it or know someone who has.

I can’t speak from first hand experience but my cube mate (how _Office Space_ is that?) tried this so this is my take of her experience…

1. \*\*does it taste as awful as it looks? \*\*
Not too bad, sort of tropical, she said it would actually be pretty good with rum and some ice.

2. \*\*Does it give you a major case of the runs? \*\*
Yes, emphatic yes!, did I say yes?! She wen to the bathroom every 20 minutes for the whole day and was absolutely miserable.

3. \*\*Do you feel like you could chew off your own arm sometime the first afternoon? \*\* she did OK the first day and said that she wasn’t really hungry. She never made it to the second day and gave up after day one because of question #2.

4. \*\*Do you really lose the weight? \*\* she says like she _feels_ like she lost weight but didn’t actually step on the scale. Again she only completed day one.

My take is that after what this diet puts you through you would loose weight for a day or so then gain all of the fluid right back. HTH - YMMV.

I talked to my trainer about this. You do lose weight, but it is mostly ‘water weight’. Nothing permanent.

After the diet, wait a day or do, drink lots of water, and you’re back to your original weight.

BTW, also stay away from the Atkins stuff. Most probably, you’ll gain it back.

Any sentence with the words ‘miracle’, ‘48 hour’ and ‘diet’ has just as much validity as an e-mail with the phrases ‘Bill Gates has announced’, ‘delete your whole hard disc’ and ‘tell everyone you know’.

The only working diets involve exercise and eating a little less.
You could always try glee’s **‘miracle 48 hour free diet’** …

…don’t eat anything for two days. You can imbibe fluid from your kitchen tap.

N.B. There will be side effects and you will put the weight back on. But, hey, it’s FREE! 🆒

Thanks for your answers. I am aware that this is not a good, healthy, permanent thing to do, but I thought it might be fun to try it anyway. Not if I’m going to spend my first weekend alone is 6 1/2 years pooping every 20 minutes though.

I remember seeing the display in Wal-Mart a few weeks back. I called over GrizzWife and read some of the directions aloud.
\<note that these are not the EXACT words, but it’s close\>

“While using the 48-Hour Miracle Diet, do not use tobacco, consume alcohol, sugar or FOOD.”

and for only $19.95 for the two-quart bottle, eh?

WHAT A DEAL!

It is physically impossible to lose 10 pounds (of fat) in 2 days. 1 pound in 3500 calories. Normal dietary intake is 2000-2500 calories. Fast for 48 hours, and you’ll lose 4-5000 calories, or 1.5 poinds. Exercise like crazy for those two days and you might tack on another pound or two, if you don’t pass out from exhaustion. The weight you lose is water, which will be quickly replenished.

I know this is a really late reply, but I felt I had to speak from my experience from using this product a few years ago
.
I have tried this and lost 12 pounds in two days. I don’t remember going to the bathroom all the time, and if I did, it was peeing, if anything, as I bought 3 large bottles of Poland Spring. 2 to drink through out the 48 hours and one I split to mix with. I did this while working as a Satellite Installer, so I was on the road the entire 48 hours and would have remembered having to use customers bathrooms all day.

If you like guava+passion fruit+orange juice mixes, you will like the taste. I had no problem. I plan on using this product again to kick off my winter work out routine to get some weight off to make it a little easier to get back to walking and biking.

As far as the Adkins diet goes, that works AWESOME!! The trick is to pick your no-carb foods WISELY!! You do actually get tired of eating meat, but if you mix no carb veggies in for snacking and eating a fair amount of fish, you will see the pounds start to come off and stay off. It is a life style change and was also beneficial to me for seizure control as an epileptic. Just buy the book and read the story of why the diet was even implicated by Dr. Adkins. It had nothing to do with losing weight. That turned out to be a side effect & benefit of the diet.

I hope this helps your future bikini plans:)

Darn, not another 10 year old thread revived (at least you recognized that it is old)!

I’m also pretty sure that it did NOT work, unless you had liposuction or an amputation at the same time. Water weight is all you’ll realistically lose in two days of any diet, even total fasting, especially if you really lost that much weight (see the reply immediately before yours).

Sounds like a colonoscopy prep to me. Lost weight = water + poop. Without even being able to find out if you have colon cancer or other such unfortunatenesses.

And based on the B&A photos, it changes your hair color, gives you a tan and does plastic surgery on your face.
