This. I’ve been all over the state of MI, and I’ve never run into a problem using Canadian coins as regular money. The only place I’ve ever had issues is vending machines. Matter of fact, to further state just how little people look at the coins you give them, a store on the west side of the state passed me what I’m pretty sure is a British pound coin in place of a quarter. I kept that one, but I can pretty much guarantee that I have at LEAST two Canadian coins in my wallet right now, if not more. (FYI, I spend most of my time and Canadian coins in the Jackson/Grand Rapids areas, so border closeness doesn’t figure into it)
