I have received two packages. One says, “From your Secret Santa” and the other has a name/return address but doesn’t say their user name. I just wanted whoever my Santa is to know I have received these. I haven’t opened them yet, but am getting tempted. ---

I got my gifties!!! It really is a Secret Santa as the return address has an IRL name I believe, and the card inside isn’t a name I recognize. But that doesn’t matter. The sender lives in Philadelphia. Three gourmet chocolate bars!!! Nom, nom. I can hear them calling my name as I type. A pad of post it notes with a little dachshund bounding along, a scarf on his neck, I will make sure my Mauser sees them. And then a recipe book from the Heinz company. It’s not all ketchup, Heinz has other products too. Love cookbooks but I think the first recipe should have ketchup in it, although I won’t throw it against the wall. Thank you so much!!! **EDITED** I did find the name of the poster, it’s **Nayna**. I am going to remember you very fondly, yes I am, ---

Just got mine in the mail, then got a call from my daughter (in whose house I’ve been babysitting all week) - she just tested positive for plague. So my recipient should get it on Monday and I suggest not opening it for a least a week - supposedly that’s the safe period for viruses on surfaces according to the CDC. I’ll be testing myself tomorrow and if I’m positive, I’ll have to spoil the secret and message my recipient. Sorry. Stoopit plague. ---

I’ve done this exchange a bunch of times, and I swear that each year I do something uniquely incorrect. How could I forget to tell you my Straight Dope name?! Sorry about that. I’m from Pittsburgh (right state, wrong city), and isn’t the cookbook wild? I thought it was so cool - it’s from 1939 (and Heinz is based in Pittsburgh), and I was hoping you like cookbooks from a historical perspective and not only to actually use to make recipes, because I think you’d be out of luck with this one. Sarris I’d not heard of them before but of the three I just got I’ve already eaten three of the four squares of the peanut butter chocolate bar. We have a good chocolate shop here in my city, but it doesn’t make bars. But their bars and chocolate covered apples (of many varieties) are to die for. I may have to see if this store has a website. **Rilchiam** , if you are ever in Topeka, look up Hazel Hills, on Kansas Avenue. ---

**Rilchiam** , here it is. [Hazel Hill Chocolate - Home](https://www.hazelhillchocolate.com/#/) It is an independent shop, and when it opened I didn’t hear about it right away. But my mom and I were walking past and I saw the apples in the window. I did a classic double take, and when my business at the bank down the street was done I made a beeline back. The Pecan Hill apple is my favorite. Rolled in caramel, coated in chocolate and sprinkled all over with chopped pecans. By the way, the scientific name for the tree that produces the cocoa bean is _theobroma_ cacao and theobroma means _food of the gods_. ---
