We were looking at a 1750s farmhouse in southern Maine when my husband found [this thing](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2F1-vK1Htj8/T33YJkWDxoI/AAAAAAAAKqU/OegKmJxqhSc/s512/IMG_6109.JPG)dangling from the basement ceiling. He didn’t focus correctly, though, and the photo didn’t turn out. The body was a bit bigger around than a quarter, he says (I didn’t go look at it, because, ick.) But seeing the photo, I’ve never seen another spider like it, and it’s sort of cool, in an icky way.
