Nice to see Cruella de Ville’s brother has a job on Estonian TV.
And that block voting in the Balkans is alive and well.
HEY ICELAND! After all that help we’ve given you the past two years, you couldn’t cough up one single point?!?
okay, so the song sucked and he was out of tune half the time. that’s not the point!
Yes! Another 12 points for Germany! 14 years in this country, and I’ve never seen Germany lead even once – woo-hoo!!
I think Germany deserve it for being so obviously bonkers about Eurovision. If I heard Graham Norton correctly, they had a crowd of 70,000 out there behind the German presenter? And it was one of the better songs.
I thought Niamh sang really well- looks like it isn’t her night
Opa! The UK goes for Greece in a big way. Who knew?
I have to say i’m slightly baffled that Germany won but well done to them
We only need Belarus to get two more points and we can officially deport Pete. Yay!
ETA: WOOOOOOOO GEORGIA!!!
Congrats ![]()
Excellent! And the rank humiliation of so many, many, many years slowly starts to fade. Yay, Germany!
I’m surprised that Germany were the winners. All I remember is her messed up accent. They do try though, didn’t they wheel out Dita Von Teese last year?
Well done to Germany - not my personal taste but a catchy enough song and certainly a respectable win.
Nice presentation by Norwegian telly, I have to say. The in-between bits were a lot less terrible than normal.
Sucking up to Germany is good policy these days. You never know when you might need a bailout.
Marc-Antoine Charpentier, douze points.
Getting in late, good show from Oslo. Armenia’s performance will be classic, and Turkey’s contribution was actually good (I thought that was a steampunk Boba Fett in the background and started looking for Star Wars influences). My sincere condoleances to the UK.
Does anyone know if there are any rules for an ESC televote drinking game afloat on the Internet?
Thank Og it’s over!
(Seriously, I’ve been barricaded into my apartment for the last two weeks. Alright, that might be because I broke my leg, but I’d have done it anyway!)
Congratulations, Germany! Comisserations, everyone else! Now go away!
(Although I’m not sure if Iceland’s PM didn’t just poison their contestant to get out of hosting Eurovision next year. Just saying.)
Russia should have won!
What was with all the booing for Russia?
She sounds pretty much like Australian Idol’s Lisa Mitchell.
Most Brits IME regard it as a bit of a joke, as someone once said, if Britain had entered the Beatles every year in their heyday then the U.K. would have won every year.
The tunes seem to be very tacky for ordinary tastes and there appears to be a lot of politically motivated voting.
E.European nations vote for each other, I have a recollection that there has never been an Irish vote registered for a British tune (may have changed now) and I doubt that the Greeks have ever voted for Turkeys entry.
That said I think its a good institution because it brings nations together.
Its better to slag off a countrys song rather then start a war with them.
That said I’d rather stab myself in the eyes with a matchstick rather then watch one.
