Serbia…well, they chose not to sing in English, the girl can sing and they went all out sixties…gotta be worth a point or two. Odd origami dress, Evanescence style stuff from Georgia. Moldova or Jedward for the win. Nostalgic for “Apricot Stone” from last year. ---

Rash prediction time: Slovenia in the top three. Spain last. But I only came in halfway through, so theoretically may have missed some great songs. Although somehow I doubt it. ---

Block voting at its best… although the RTE announcer sez Azerbaijan’s showing was entirely unexpected. But at least West Moldavia gave 12 points to East Romania’s “Beastie Gnomes” (:p) and who knows if France may have saved Spain from absolute humiliation… ---

Azerbaijan shares a border with Iran. I know it’s been in Israel (where most people’s parents or grandparents are European) and Turkey (50/50 Europe and Asia), but this just feels much less European than either. I’m thinking that should certain terrorist organisations be seeking major targets in the near future, this might have been a win for them too. ---

The one down side to the 50% jury system is that genuinely FUN acts, like Moldova, may not get the results as juries just don’t like that. I had Moldova. Italy and Switzerland as my top 3. At least one did OK. ---
