We were really optimistic about _Raising Hope_- _Earl_’s production team and Martha Plimpton, for starters- and we enjoyed the first ep, but enjoyed each subsequent ep less than the one before it. We’re done. ---

I watch it purely for the train-wreck effect (plus it’s on after _Raising Hope_ which gives me my ersatz _My Name is Earl_ fix). One truly awful sitcom. I also watch _$#_! My Dad Says\* for the same reason, but this is much worse. Given it’s dismal ratings and general awfulness, I am surprised it’s still on. _Raising Hope_, OTOH, has been given a full season go ahead. ---

I wanted to like it, but I agree with the “meh” sentiment. And that’s trying too hard to be Arrested Development. I mean, the first episode where there was a call back to it, when Puddle was narrating and said something like “Steve was wondering if he’d made a huge mistake”, I chuckled a little. But by the second episode with all the "Come ON!"s being said, I was rolling my eyes. ---

It’s just not working for me. I think it’s missing something major: charismatic leads. I only like the secondary characters because they at least have personality. ---

The title sums it up. I’ve stuck through four episodes of Running Wilde (on Fox, Tuesdays at 9:30). The first three had some funny parts but overall weren’t so great. David Cross was incredibly irritating as a guest character as well. There were some laugh out loud moments, but it also dragged a bit. But in the fourth episode, it really starts improving. Various gags from Arrested Development, I can see Mitch Hurtwitz’s touches in the music, the pacing, and the jokes. Will Arnett basically plays a Gob like character. I previously apologetically recommended it to people, but now I can say it’s definitely worth a gander. You kinda have to start from the beginning, but if not, I’d be welcome to spoiler box a backstory and you can try the fourth episode. Give it a shot! All five episodes are up on Hulu. I’m a big fan of Arrested Development, but can’t watch more than ten minutes of **Running Wilde**. Really not all that good. ---

Keri Russell just doesn’t work for me here. Partly that the character doesn’t work, partly because comedy acting is harder than acting. The writing is great at times (I loved all of the AD call-backs, but you certainly can’t depend on those). I _love_ the Fa’ad character, and his interactions with Will Arnett are the show’s high points. Arnett is still funny, but his character needs someone to play off of, and KR doesn’t work. It’s kind of like Arrested Development with fewer characters and no Michael or George Michael. ---

We watched the first episode last night, after I noticed the thread **Arrested Development fans, you really should be watching Running Wilde on Fox!** started by lindsaybluth. I think that rather than watching the second episode, I’ll just abrade my scrotum with a sanding block and then apply a lemon and jalapeno poultice. For laughs. ---

If they could get rid of her, and do something better with Puddle (who I like, but whose commentary/narration can be a little too on-the-spot), and focused on the servents and next door neighbor, this show could improve. A little. I so want to like it. ---

I think it sucks, but I like it anyway. I’d stare at Keri Russell doing absolutely nothing for half an hour, and I’d listen to Will Arnett talking about nothing for even longer, so I’m good. That the show is occasionally funny is just a nice bonus. The neighbor’s a nice bonus, too. It’s silly/goofy rather than genuinely funny. I bet it will get cancelled. I won’t be too upset, but I would like it to continue. ---

I just watched the first five episodes and enjoyed it. Definitely not AD, but a lot of the same joke structure. The neighbour cracks me up, “is this going to be an orgy dome?” then later says, “I texted my guy, I’m steeling your orgy dome idea.” And when he shows up with a tiny horse and proclaims, “they get more expensive the smaller they get.” Then later, GOB is in the car with his butler and a tiny horse.
