Or they simply don’t pay it, which amounts to the same thing for the rest of us–the costs skyrocket.
Every time someone goes to the ER without insurance, the rest of us pay. Since I’m going to pay anyway, I want to pay up front for good care rather than at the back end for poor care.
He does help out, shitheap. And yes, I live at home – rather than go out on the dole. I do MY share around the house, even if it’s not monetary.
(BTW, you don’t know what an aura is, do you? That Pit thread was made a year ago, and since then, it’s gotten worse, meaning my meds have been increased. Nor do I recall saying that OCD was worse – cite, por favor? Because it’s fucking not – or at least, not anymore)
Epilepsy doesn’t keep me from working (well, except for some jobs, like say a bus driver, naturally!), so I don’t know where you got THAT idea. It keeps me from being COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE. Do try and keep up.
What, pray tell, is a “real job?” I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a “fake job.”
(Jesus Christ, if I’m so pathetic, why are you so obsessed with me? You sure seem to remember an awful lot of what I’ve said here – more than I have.)
As for why people are sticking up for me? I don’t know, maybe, they like me? I’m not, well, a sociopathic shitstain?
ETA: I believe we had a poster here die from epilepsy – Persephone?
Right-- when you declare bankruptcy, you don’t pay it. Ironically, the fact that this happens has probably contributed to why ER care is so damn expensive.
Exactly. If I’m going to pay either way, I’d rather pay for people to stay well than to pay to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, poorly.
Guin, my advice is to you is, please stop defending yourself against ad hominem attacks on your personal life. Your personal life is not the issue here. Don’t let them make it the issue because they’ve run out of intelligent things to say about the actual topic at hands. The facts speak for themselves.
Really? My friend was in collections when he declared bankruptcy. I’m surprised to hear that they won’t pursue it, take you to court, and/or wreck your credit. They certainly can if they want to.
Insurance providers do the stats and eliminate people who might cost money. They are heavy into data mining. They spend a lot of money trying to find ways to deny coverage they are getting paid for. The Companies do not wait until they cost them .
I love the free market being an instrument in cutting costs and gaining efficiency argument. If we had a free market system, the companies would compete by lowering prices and offering more ,to gain customers. But they have been only going up in cost, They have been cutting coverage and denying claims. Is this the free market at work:? Nope it is an oligarchy that carved up the market among themselves. The cost of insurance is well ahead of inflation every year. But our system is rated no. 37 in the world. It is getting worse and worse. Where are the amazing free market benefits?
