Health Insurance “Innovation” – The Baseline Scenario It is called rescission. The health companies will use whatever they can scrape up to escape paying. If you think heath companies should be trying to find ways to escape paying, after collecting premiums for years raise your hand.
On one hand we have health companies that are cheating their customers out of contracted coverage and we have a comparatively poor health system On the other hand Bricker and a few other think they are assured of great coverage. I guess that would be a wash.
Hardly. It’s just as likely to be a sign that wages are low relative to the cost of living, leaving a majority of workers with no money left over after paying for necessities.
Yes, right. Let’s say you were in the house when it burned. You’d very likely be facing a lengthy hospitalization, reconstructive surgery (not cosmetic to make you look good, but lifesaving to put skin where you need it), and perhaps physical therapy.
“Not a real job?” Tell that to people who make a living picking crops and doing other seasonal work (no, they’re not all here illegally). How do you define a “real” job?
Please. Plenty of people - plenty of women - have worked their way through college or managed it with scholarships and/or loans (which they paid back). It sounds to me as though going to college wasn’t sufficiently important to you at the time, rather than being simply unattainable.
If there isn’t a law making something illegal, it’s legal. Can you provide a cite that shows that such denials are explicitly illegal?
I found it to be extremely interesting. We saw a reversal from “I have it made because I’m better and smarter than everyone else” to a “I’m messed up and need all the ‘stuff’ that I already claimed no one should be entitled to (except for me)”.
That tells me all I need to know.
Isn’t the lesson better taught by NOT providing for your child’s every possible want and need? For example, my parents paid for my college tuition, books, and rent. Food and utilities and phone bills and clothing were my responsibility. Once I was in law school, I was required to pay for everything. And you know what? I did it, because I knew I had to, even though my parents certainly COULD have paid for everything. So that taught me budgeting, and delayed gratification, and how to succeed in life–and did it much better than it would have had they paid for everything.
Indeed? I don’t think I can ignore that.
Do you have a citation to offer that MSAFP testing in the fetus and/or mother, and fetal ultrasound, were commonly done or even available around the time Broomstick’s husband was born? My info from:
McClatchey, Kenneth D. Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Lippincott, Williams, and Wilkins; Second Edition, 2002, page. 640
…says that “95% of infants with spina bifida are born to couples with no family history. … Prior to the availability of MSAFP screening, only patients with a positive familiy history of spina bifida were offered prenatal diagnosis. … MSAFP test kits were released in the United States in 1983.”
As far as ultrasound goes, it’s been around for longer, but 1) it’s not highly effective (or was not in the early days) for detecting spina bifida, and 2) it was not commonly used on fetuses until the 1980’s. The first reference I can find of any use outside of a laboratory on fetuses is:
Bishop, E. H. “The Doppler ultrasonic motion sensor.” Obstetrics and Gynecology 28 (1966):712-713. A bit after Broomstick’s husband was born.
Jesus, is curlcoat ever right? What a silly bitch.
She’s a double-fisted sponge. Her poor husband…I’ll be he’s lookin’ for a back door.
Not only that, but the explanations for why she couldn’t afford to go to college (which she expects us to accept) are the same as those for why people can’t afford insurance or healthcare (which she rejects ).
In all seriousness, this discussion would have been a lot cleaner if curlcoat would have stated her opinons clearly in the beginning, instead of spreading them out over 25 pages, buried in with a bunch of wharrrgarbl.
Such as “I’m opposed to UHC because I see it as an extension of social programs which I already oppose”. Then she could have elaborated as to why she opposes existing social programs.
I found the problem. She’s an evil Murloc.
wharrrgarbl mrglmrglgrglmrgl
That would explain the irrational rage I feel when I read her posts…
Irrational??? Rage strikes me as the only rational response.
seems like the majority of people around here are whacked out liberal socialist moonbats that want the gov’t to run every aspect of their lives, want people who went school and got a good paying job to pay for the ones who sit on their asses all day, or work at wal-mart, or the corner 7-11. you know the ones who sit and smoke all day long and bitch about how bad everything is, but too stupid and lazy to do anything about it themselves.
its pathetic whats happening to this country. we have drowned ourselves with the stupid, idiotic, pussified, ridiculous, moronic political correctness horseshit and we’re soooooooooo afraid of “offending” someone we go to any lengths to prevent it, and attack anyone who makes someone blush.
its pathetic and embarassing whats happened to us. The rest of the goddamn world is laughing their fucking asses off at us right now for what we have turned into.
If you were literate enough to read and comprehend a real news source, you’d understand that this is true, but not for the reasons you think it is.
When the rest of the world laughs at America, it’s mainly illiterate, stupid assholes like you that they’re laughing at.
Interesting how you lump Walmart workers and 7-11 in with people who sit on their asses all day. Ever heard the saying “the world needs ditch diggers too”? Well, it’s true. If you reap the benefits of their labor while sneering at them for not making as much money as you, then you are an arrogant asshole. Ever work retail? It’s hard work. Fuck you, sir, for looking upon retail workers as subhuman.
I respect you and your views on unecessary capitalization of letters. Don’t let the man keep you down. If you happen to be the man, don’t beat yourself up.
Yours truly,
Whacked out Liberal Socialist Moonbat
Isn’t “evil murloc” redundant? Like “annoying foot fungus”?
There are neutral murlocs in Borean Tundra. And they have the cutest goddamn babies in the game.
We outnumber you 10 to 1, Grampaw. Just what are you going to do about it? Who’s the pussy now, pussy?
Nation, thanks for your support.
