Anything infuriate you beyond proportion?

WRAL in Raleigh has had a decades-long annoying as all hell habit of throwing in references to NC (and Raleigh in particular) during international and national news stories that have nothing, nothing to do with this area.

“President Obama is set to announce a new policy regarding troops in Afghanistan. Coming up on 5:30 first news, we’ll interview a family living right here in the Triangle who can actually find Afghanistan on a map!”

Look, you don’t have to invoke the mighty Raleighwood in every. fricking. piece. Some of us don’t need to make a local connection in order to give a crap about a story. And creating said connection - usually very tenuously - sure as hell isn’t going to get me to care otherwise. It’s pandering and very transparent and oh-so typical of the belief that some people have around here that Raleigh is the center of the universe. Other channels do it too, but WRAL is the worst.

No idea if this happens in other areas. I sure didn’t remember seeing that during local news shows in Alabama.
