I really enjoy this (and I loved _Police Squad!_ which I also own on DVD). I think my favorite character so far is Angie’s boss, Lt. “Chet” Atkins". ---

So far, I have to agree with you. I’ve watched about 3 or 4 episodes, and it’s reasonably entertaining, but hasn’t _quite_ clicked with me yet. On a ten-point scale, this show is maybe 5 or 6 for me. We’ll see if it grows on me, but, I don’t know–it just doesn’t quite have the campy carefree silliness of the Zucker brothers work. I can’t quite put my finger on it, though. I don’t want it to be an exact copy of their work, of course, but it just doesn’t “swing” for me, to use a jazz idiom. ---

The laughs come from our mental comparisons with very familiar genre (police/airline-disaster/spy, etc) works that litter television screens and B-movie history. That’s in contrast to something like “Mr. Bean,”—a comedy of character/pratfall arts. ---
