Apparently I will never receive my stamps.

If I need stamps, or need to mail something and I don’t have stamps, I just put the money and a note in my mailbox. The mailman will leave stamps or put stamps on stuff I’m trying to mail.

I returned a Cologard a few weeks ago but they said there were problems and sent me another which I’ll ship at a good time next week. UPS drivers needn’t worry much if the package is sealed. Operators at the other end sure have a shitty job, though. :smack:

I ordered a couple of books from Barnes and Noble a couple of weeks ago, and they arrived here in Hawaii within a few days. At the same time, I ordered some new razor heads for my shaver from Philips, and they took about a week. Those two companies got their stuff to me pronto, about the same length of time as pre-crisis, maybe even faster.

Recently, I saw a UPS delivery van on the side of the road. Backed up behind it was a U-Haul truck. The back doors of both were open and they were about as close together as they could be. I made a guess that the UPS truck broke down and they were transfering all the undelivered packages to the rental. Those delivery vans must get lots and lots of miles on them, so it’s not surprising if they break down fairly frequently.

I know you were all waiting with bated breath so I wanted to let you know that my stamps arrived today!

At least now I know what to expect if I order in the future but since I can get them at the checkout at my local Kroger (which I did yesterday) I probably won’t need to order online anymore. I now have enough to last me about a year.

As you were.

:smack:

USA! USA! Glad you got your stamps.

In a pinch, could one address correspondence to oneself, put the real intended recipient in the return address, then it would be sent “back” to them for insufficient postage?

I’m ashamed to admit that I did this a few times in my younger days when I could barely scrape two nickels together.

Wasn’t postage only 4 cents then?

:flees:

Haha!!! You little whippersnapper! Get off my lawn!

I can remember when postage went from 3 cents to 4 cents actually. Then 5 cents 6 cents 8 cents 10 cents 13 cents. I don’t recall after that. Our wedding invitations were definitely 10 cents.

I also recall that a few years back the rate dropped from 49 to 47 cents.

I had something kind of similar. I ordered a few seeds for chili peppers back in early April from Amazon individual sellers. Amazon reported they shipped them the next day with USPS, with an estimate for April 20th or so. Which seemed kind of odd, I’m not sure how you can even ship something as light as seeds and have it take 2.5 weeks these days.

The 20th came and went, and no seeds, and still no seeds to this day. Just, “sorry they are running late” on Amazon’s order page.

I know there’s a lot of hate out there for Amazon, probably for good reason. But there are sometimes alternatives. For books, order from Barnes and Noble. I’m a member, so I get free shipping no matter how small the order, but I think for nonmembers it’s free shipping for orders above $50. I ordered new blades for my Philips/Norelco shaver straight from the company, and it was free shipping. Everything arrived quickly.

It’s only 25 for non members, and I order a hell of a lot, and never pay shipping. I’ve gotten a dozen orders over the last 2 months, and everything has been fine. Except the two 0.1oz seed packages I ordered from two different sellers on the same day.

On the plus side, by the time they arrive they’ll be pepper plants!

I had to do mine over because my first specimen was too big! In short, you have to send them a whole turd, but make sure it’s smaller than the bottle of preservative.

Has anyone here seen “Pink Flamingos”? That “Someone has sent me a bowel movement!” scene used to be on You Tube.

You theoretically can, but it’s illegal to do that on purpose. My sister tried that when she had some pen pals, as a joke, but never did it again after both our parents and I told her this. Oh, yeah, she replied, “Then have me arrested!”. We weren’t going to go THAT far.

Why wouldn’t stamps be usable until a certain date? Maybe there was a printing issue and that’s why they didn’t go out right away?

In addition, seed companies are getting swamped with orders, so if you ordered those, be surprised if they arrive on time.

As opposed to doing it by accident?

The putz was the lady in the doorway. Our PO has lines on the floor; waiting at an open door is not allowed. Beyond the door is an outer lobby with lines on the floor so that it is impossible to be closer than 6ft to any one if you stick to the lines. Only 2 people at a time are actually allowed in the inner lobby, where the clerks are.
