I can find you a number of people who’ll say that all lives matter, and if asked will specify that of course black lives matter; is there anyone who has announced that all lives matter, but doesn’t agree when asked whether that means black lives matter?

There is a repeated and consistent pattern of behavior, on the part of the police, which indicates that this is not true. Which is the reason why Black Lives Matter exists in the first place.
But you could just as easily say that pattern of behavior indicates that the other phrase is not true; you can say that cops aren’t acting like all lives matter, and you can say that cops aren’t acting like black lives matter.
How is that a strike against one, but not the other?
“All lives matter” and “Black lives matter” are not claims, they are SLOGANS and they represent something beyond the actual words used.
I feel like BLM’s point is that we already know that “all lives” don’t matter to the police because black lives don’t matter to the police.
Well, sure. I’m not telling BLM to change their slogan; I’m saying, if cops aren’t acting like all lives matter – because they’re not acting like black lives matter – then I’d nod in just as much agreement if someone (a) cries out that the police should start acting like black lives matter, or if he (b) cries out that the police should start acting like all lives matter. I wouldn’t assume either one is a racist for expressing that sentiment.
There is no “Only Black Lives Matter”. But it’s only black people who are being executed in the streets. And that’s been OK with the “All Lives Matter” people. Because they are lying hypocrites.

And, when presented with an organization (affiliation under a slogan, or whatever it is that BLM is) that’s purpose is to draw attention to the fact, your response is to quibble about how they’re not nice people, or hypocrites for dying at the hands of white people without using proper inclusive language, or whatever.
Who gives a shit if ‘Black Lives Matter’ is nothing but a bunch of whiny assholes. Being a whiny asshole is an understandable (if not the only) response to numerous real and imminent injustices that lead directly to loss of life and liberty that you and I don’t have to worry about. So if BLM pisses you off, I suggest working double-hard on addressing those injustices, so that they won’t have a reason to get angry in a way you disapprove of. It’s win/win; everybody gets what they want!
