Let’s all try to be a bit clearer and to the point with our thread titles, folks.
I’ve altered your thread title a bit, for that purpose, anyrose.

You serious? Just about everyone that has a regular day job is up by then. I’ll have already been up for about 4 hours. Still I prefer the extra light in the afternoon, night. Don’t need it just to drive to work.
IMO, pick one and stick with it. I think DST is stupid, too. I work 12 hours shifts (only 2 days a week, thank og). I leave in darkness and return in darkness–often I do not know that it has snowed, sleeted, rained, melted-whatever. It is very strange.
I have 3 kids–I don’t see that having darkness in the morning is any worse than darkness right (and I mean right) after school. Halloween is so dark, so soon. High school aged daughter catches the early bus at 0620–it’s dark anyway for her. Other kids go a bit later, but it’s not exactly high noon. But in the afternoon, with sports practice and friends over etc–darkness falls here in Dec about 4:10–deep dusk anyway. Consider that they got off the bus at 4 pm and I think you’ll see my point…
Oh yeah…say that again…slower this time…
If the whole point of DST is to save energy (costs, that is), I would expect the nation’s gross aggregate energy use to go down the week after the Spring time change every year, especially when compared to similar time periods long ago when DST wasn’t used. If this doesn’t happen, the theory is hogwash.
Anybody know of such an energy study?
Blasphemy! You are not supposed to ask for data on this, just accept the Known Fact.
Why, it sounds like you think that energy use patterns in the US have changed since the early 60’s when we were first told about the wondrous energy saving affects of DST! That’s just crazy!
I agree. I find Daylight-Saving Time annoying and unnecessary. We don’t have it here, thank goodness.
