# Apple TV - content not found elsewhere?

Gonna be out of commission for about 6 weeks starting in May and I was thinking of subscribing to it for a month or two. I’ve just watched Murderbot which was a big draw (visiting a friend who has it) so that’s sorted out.
Anything else recommended that is only on Apple?
We have Netflix, HBO Max or whatever it’s called this month, Prime, Disney,/Hulu, and we have Starz for a bit longer (got it for a dollar a month for a few more months]. The only real exclusive I can recall there is Outlander, which I’m currently binging.

We love Shrinking.
Harrison Ford plays a guy his own age beautifully.
Hijack - Idris Elba and tension is an excellent pairing.
Your Friends And Neighbors - Jon Hamm at his best, complex and funny, as a citizen of an exclusive neighborhood who discovers how easy it is to steal from rich people.
The Studio - comedy with a different guest director playing themselves each episode (Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese are great!).
There’s a LOT!

[Drops of God](https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/drops-of-god/) is one of my all-time favorite shows anywhere, about a woman who inherits an expensive wine collection but must prove her worthiness. (We don’t even care about wine, but it was just so extraordinarily well-written and well-acted and beautifully filmed that it drew us in and kept us engaged through both seasons.)
[Foundation](https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/foundation/) (as in Asimov) was interesting for a few episodes, but then it got too new-agey-mystical to keep me interested.
[The Gorge](https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/the-gorge/) was a fun sci-fi romp about two people guarding two sides of a deep canyon filled with monsters.
[Hijack](https://tv.apple.com/us/show/hijack/umc.cmc.1dg08zn0g3zx52hs8npoj5qe3?ctx_agid=502c9996) is a thriller about a hijacked plane and the people inside it negotiating with the hijackers. It was good for a while but really slow moving and I kinda lost patience.
I also thought [F1](https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/f1/) was fun, even though I don’t care about racing or cars at all. It helped me a lot to have watched [Cleo Abram’s intro to F1 video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSdsncLXLYs) beforehand so I could understand what the hell was going on. If you have a good home theater setup, recommend saving that for home viewing. It was quite the experience with Dolby Vision and Atmos.

I’m gonna go old school and recommend Dickinson, which was one of the original ATV launch titles. It’s a comedy/drama about Emily Dickinson trying to find herself in 19th century society, but the stories are told through a very purposely modern filter. That melding of 2 eras works very well IMHO, and it’s funny and depressing at the same time. Very under appreciated. It is worth checking out at least.

_Sugar_ and _Dark Matter_ are pretty good too, and both have been renewed for second seasons(_Sugar_ season 2 premieres in June.) Apple TV has a pretty impressive line-up, considering they launched in 2019.

I feel I should add that the best part of The Gorge IMHO is the long distance romance between the two “it people” (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) before they actually end up in the gorge itself.

It’s only barely worth it for Jon Hamm. If it weren’t for him, doing a 21st century take on a down and out Don Draper, it would be unwatchable. Too much murder mystery, not enough rich eating the rich.
But also a quick plug for **Chief of War**. Wonderful historical drama about the unification of Hawaii. It’s a bummer that so far it hasn’t been renewed for a second season.

Isn’t PARADISE on Apple TV? Looks like a murder mystery at first… turns out it’s a different take on Life After Catastrophic Event.
And PLURIBUS is like that, too. You think it’s one kind of show, but it quickly shows much more complexity.

I’m 2 weeks post-op and have managed to binge… NOTHING. 3-4 more episodes of Outlander. Finally watched Thursday Murder Club. But almost nothing else. The brain is well and truly fried.
