Appropriate punishment for Trump?

Let’s all give a big hand to Doctor Claw!

I consider myself to be an educated person, but I had never this term.

I consider this action incompatible with democracy. It was used extensively in The Soviet Union, with people even being removed from photos.

Irony alert: The Wikipedia article has a list of emperors who were subjected to this action.

Many posts in a thread like this show a desire to turn DJT into a political prisoner. Coming from left or right doesn’t make that better or worse.

If he stole property from the national archives, he should be treated like a would-be scholar who pockets a valuable document. No more, no less.

As far as running for President from a prison cell, Eugene Debs did it. While his sedition conviction was unconstitutional to me, you can argue that there are limits to the broad promises of the Bill of Rights. But the rules for who can run for what aren’t open to interpretation. If the clearly stated constitutional qualifications for the presidency can be changed by law, there is no constitution.

I don’t understand this. A big part of the ordinary guard training is to protect prisoners from each other.

And minimum security prisoners are not a big threat.

I am totally against using secret service protection as a reward or punishment. It is there to address real risks. It’s just that, given his age and lack of much history of conventional violence, Trump only would need a minimum security prison camp, and I think their guards are qualified to protect their prisoners.

As for the law, from what I can see it authorizes secret service protection. I don’t see that it requires it when the risk is low.

That’s just mean.

Where do I sign up?

The issue here isn’t what Chump personally might do, it’s what his Meal Team Sixpack supporters might do in attempts to “liberate” him. That suggests a need for more security that a Club Fed could provide.

Exile on Saint Helena. With no internet.

There’s about 25 women that might disagree with that claim.

I don’t know about your number, Peter_Morris, but I wish to withdraw my claim of lack of a history of violence and instead say there is no history of conviction for violence.

Actually, he probably wouldn’t even go into one of those minimum security camps, because by the time he could exhaust appeals, he might more likely be going to a nursing facility, or hospital.

And rightly so! The many posts in this thread suggesting that a specific prisoner be singled out for worse treatment is not helping me stay a Democrat (although DJT’s continuing disrespect for democracy far outweighs what some of his opponents say when fired up).

I am not a number, I am a free man.
