Well crap, I have been bitten by a dog. It’s a drop-off/abandoned pet or a lost fox dog. Anyway this morning he was laying on my deck when I stepped out to walk my little dogs. We just ignored and went on the walk. I usually let them hang for a day and not put any pressure on them and just put out food and water. When we got back I didn’t see him. I took my pups in and put a kettle on. I looked up and there he was peering in the french door at me. I turn off the stove and got dog treats. Threw a couple his way and he gobbled them up. I see a collar and decide to look and see was if there was a phone number. I moved too fast and put my hand over his head (God I am dumb). He reached up and clamped down on my hand. I have two punctures on my index finger and a puncture and slash wounds on my hand. The dog took off when I yelled “No” real loud. I cleaned my hand up and called my doctor, I am leaving to go there soon. Mr.Wrekker has gone looking for the dog. I don’t think rabies will be a thing. Maybe an antibiotic and a butterfly bandage will do me. Just my luck, I had a little lettering job to do this week, and the bite in on my dominant left hand. Stupid. ---

Last Friday I bought a new domain for my shop. Starting first thing this morning, I’ve been getting telemarketing emails and phone calls from asshats trying to sell me website services. I don’t remember getting so many calls when I bought the first domain. WTF?! It’s really annoying. ---

I’m trying to buy a new laptop from a place out in CA (it’s customized). I used my credit card’s “ShopSafe” service so I’d have a fund and time limited number to give them. I asked them to ship to my work place because the damn thing is expensive and I don’t want it left on the doorstep. Because it’s not going to my billing address, they want a picture of the card and my ID. \ Luckily I TOOK a screenshot of the generated number, but man, this is annoying. On the other hand, the last time I bought from them, my credit card was used in Portugal (no idea if it was related), so yay for the extra precautions, but that’s why I used the ShopSafe! Dang it, Amazon didn’t have an issue sending to the non-billing address when I just purchased a keyboard. Admittedly, not anywhere near as expensive, but also not cheap. ---

I’m 99% sure my husband has the flu. He insisted he didn’t need to get vaccinated because “getting vaccinated makes him sick.” Well, he’s had a fever since Friday. He was initially refusing to take something to reduce his fever, but after it got really high, I threatened to call an ambulance because he said he was dizzy and began slurring his words. After much arguing, he took a dose of ibuprofen, drank nearly 6 cups of water, his fever came down, dizziness went away along with the confusion and speech difficulties, so he went back to sleep. I’m still not convinced I shouldn’t take him to urgent care or call our nursing hotline, but he’s past the point of tamflu and finally drinking water and taking something to get the fever down. Normally when my husband gets sick I kind of roll my eyes since he gets so dramatic, but this one is scary as hell. Do not fuck with the flu, guys. ---

That said, I was speaking specifically about my husband and not the male gender. I’ve yet to meet anyone else, male or female, who gets a head cold, shuts all the windows and doors, then will wrap a scarf around their entire head, sprawl out on any available piece of furniture and exclaim, “I’m feeling weak! Shut the doors and windows - I’ll get a draft!” And no, that’s not an exaggeration. At that point, I can’t help but wonder if smelling salts and/or a fainting couch are in order. ---

Well, I came from the doctor. I got 4 stitches in the slash cut on my hand. After they poured some hot shit on it and the punctures. I thought I was gonna faint, it hurt like all get out. The holes are still seeping but they didn’t like to put a stitch in those, they need to stay open, she said. My hand looks like a balloon blown up. I won’t be painting this week. A shot a 2 prescriptions. Meanwhile, Mr.Wrekker caught the dog and nearly got bit himself. Turns out it belongs to a guy he knows, guy said the dog is up to date on his shots and had been missing since Saturday. He looking for his rabies papers. And now I gotta listen to the lectures I am gonna get for feeling sorry for every stray that turns up. Stupid. ---

Multiple people can collaborate on a Google Doc. What would be the point of moving it? Do we even have an internal wiki? Him: No, that’s the origin of the name Wikipedia. To wiki something. /scene NO NO NO NO. A wiki is a type of software. Wikipedia is built on a wiki. They are separate concepts. It’s bad enough that people shorten Wikipedia to wiki, but to try and coin an entirely new meaning that has nothing to do with either? And retroactively declare that as the original meaning? NO! Yes, I had a car wreck 2 years ago and was given a tetanus shot then. The Doctor looked up my chart at the trauma-center I was at. The dogs shots are recent enough that I don’t have to have those worries. But damn this hand is sore. It may cut into my posting abilities. ;). I am certainly gonna milk it to get out of everything else around here. You should have seen Mr.Wrekker ( big ol’ redneck ) walking my little dogs on skinny leashes. They kept running around his feet. It was funny to me, of course I am on pain killers so it may have been funny to _only_ me. ---

I need to order a charging cable for a piece of equipment at work. The company has been purchased 3 times (in 8 years) since we first acquired the equipment and I don’t think the new company really wants to support the old stuff. I called their sales department and I could hear the rep leafing through a catalog trying to find the part number. How do they not have a computerized parts list? In the end sales had to call service to make sure the right part was being quoted. I’ll be buying future equipment from a competitor because I have no confidence this place will continue to support their equipment. ---

Applied for a job that was professionally a good but modest step up, personally hit several lifelong interests & just seemed like a really cool position … and in absolute honesty I think I’m qualified. I worked hard on a bangin’ cover letter. I got an auto rejection right out of the gate. Worse, I’m still getting several notifications from various sources - LinkedIn, Indeed, even GlassDoor - nudging me to apply for this position. Which not only keeps re-stirring the rejection back up in my head, but is a slap in the face that there wasn’t some better qualified candidate or internal hire. They still want someone for the position. Just not me. Nobody doing the job at all, is preferable to me handling it. {… content manager for a big zoo …} C’mon. I own or have owned several odd/maligned species, read science research updates for fun, breed feeder rodents, think David Attenborough is the shit, and have a goddamn English degree and a goddamn masters in goddamn journalism. I hate this quagmire of self-doubt. My request for feedback got bounced since they use one of those H.R. hiring programs that masks email addresses & prevents replies. So I’m stuck feeling like shit, and I really need to find some alternate route. Submitting resume & cover letter to corporate jobs is Not Working and I’m sick of banging my head against the same damn bloody wall. ---
