We have a new manager at work and I swear I’m either going to knock my coworkers’ heads together or knock their heads into a wall the next time they do the OMG THE SKY IS FALLING routine when New Manager switches up things. I caught on that New Manager doesn’t take any crap from anybody, too, and since Old Manager’s #1 mantra was “I wanna be your friend so you won’t screw me over”, I think my coworkers are in for a rude awakening. Guess what, kids? You’re going to have to move your collective asses now like you’re supposed to! What a concept! \Not that I’m not bitter or anything, obviously.\ ---

The cat behaviorist is coming out Friday, in a last-ditch attempt to get our cats to get along. If this doesn’t work, we’ll be rehoming my cat (who, incidentally, is currently snuggled up on my chest without a clue that a clock is definitely ticking for her). I don’t think she’ll get adopted from a shelter, and with this being a military-heavy area there are _always_ Facebook/Craigslist/newspaper ads for animals needing a new home due to the owners moving; I really do think an unfavorable review from the behaviorist will be a death sentence. I don’t want to lose my snuggly ginger tabby. ☹ ---

Grr. Left a company last year: - Exercise my stock options within 90 days. Check - Successful IPO. Check - Drop in market valuation during a tech drop. Check. - Tax bill for the gain from exercising, even though I still own the shares? TRIPLE CHECK. Yes, I knew it was coming. Yes, I know that this is how this work. Yes, I triggered AMT as well. Yes it is pure, grade-A bullshit (I am paying taxes for a gain I have yet to realize in real money). Yes, I can use this payment in the future when I finally sell the shares. Finally, Yes, this is first world ain’t it great to make enough to pay taxes mini-ranting. But I still hate our tax code here in 'Murica. ---

Orange cats usually do very well at adoptions. If the worse happens and you have to give your snuggle puss up, could you find a rescue place a hundred miles away? Fewer pets needing new homes that way. ---

We are smack in the middle of MilitaryVille- 100 miles one way is DC, 100 miles the other is Norfolk. ☹ But maybe she’d have a chance out toward WV; I’ll keep that in mind, thank you. Helena330- that’s where we started; lots of watching/reading Jackson Galaxy and Pam Bennett. There have been numerous stops along the way during this awful journey, but I’m really hoping we just needed a physical, non-invested person in front of us demonstrating the techniques. ---

Had a weird rash on my leg for four years (I know, I know.) Outside of being a little itchy, it never really bothered me. This past week, it’s caused my legs to be a little numb (I can still feel sensations, but it feels "muffled). So, as much as I hate doctors, I go to the UrgentCare clinic on yesterday afternoon. I tend to fear the worst (hence my aversion to doctors; they’re like lawyers - you never go to them for positive reasons). I get checked in and when I go to the room, I have my pre-screening, where I’m brutally honest about my lifestyle habits, hoping an honest, detailed picture will get to the bottom of this. I detail how I get overly worked-up about things, don’t sleep much, etc. She looks at it and tells me it looks like it could be a fungus. Ew, yeah, but a fungus isn’t the worst that I’d imagined. So, she said she’ll call the doctor in, and have her check it out. 45 minutes of me feeling relieved, while I wait and the doctor comes in. As we talk, I can tell she’s analyzing me, and she finally announces that she wants to have a biopsy. Not what I wanted to hear. She said it could be a wide gamut of things, and not to assume the worst. The thing couldn’t be scheduled for over a week from now. When I get home, I talk to a friend, and he tells me that one of our mutual friends could have something similar (psoriasis), and I noticed similar marks on his skin last week. He then tells me that there are a lot of triggers some benign that apply - drinking, poor diet, stress, lack of sleep, but then there are a few others that are much more serious. So, for the next 7+ days, I get to go back and forth in my head and go from harmless skin irritation to indicative of a much worse problem.
