[Per Anaamika & well, I’m back](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=11386444&postcount=56). The only rational answer, of course, is Faramir. Unlike that wanker Striker, he was wise enough to see that the greatest woman in the hisotry of Middle-Earth was Eomer’s sister. Why would anybody want to be anybody else? Of course, distaff Dopers may choose to answer this as “whom would you want to bone” rather than “whom would you choose to be.” ---

Eomer’s just a dude with a horse, Aragorn is too much of a Marty-Stu, and Faramir is definitely the cooler of the Gondor Brothers. But I think I’m going to write in Ghan-Buri-Ghan. He may be a savage wood-wose, but the dude knows his numbers. ---

Ooo! A thread just for me. I have a little story about this one. I always thought it was Aragorn, hands-down. The books left little room for any deviation in my mind. About a year after watching the movies I had a really dirty dream about one of the characters. I never have dirty dreams, or not that I can remember, and I will not get into the details but I will say who - _Boromir_. I was surprised to say the least. The dream made me look at him more closely, and I’ll say: Just for sex, Boromir. For a relationship? I just love Eomer. I always did like the strong, silent type - though he clearly has a softer side in his heart. It’s the kind of man I like, the man that shares his emotional conflicts with me and only me. And, more shallowly, I love his hair! ---

Aragorn for a roll in the hay (but only if he looks like Viggo). I don’t think I’d ever want to actually try and carry on a conversation with him. Faramir for a relationship. He’s an intellectual, but still can bust out the badassery when it’s required. Boromir’s got too much of an anger issue, and Eomer just never registered with me. ---

Faramir was my first thought. He’s just plain awesome, and totally smart. Aragorn has too many issues, and Boromir is just kind of blah. Eomer is a second choice, 'cause horse lords are cute. ---

Thanks for the thread Skald. Only so much I can do while I’m at work. My easy answer is Faramir as far as the movies. though if Karl Urban’s Eomer had the major role he had in the books as opposed to the minor one he had in the films, it might have been a hard choice. For the books, I’m all over Frodo. Sensitive yet brave, strong, etc. What’s not to love? And I’d cure him of his post-traumatic-stress-disorder & we’d live happily ever after in the Shire. ---

From the book: Faramir because he’s nicely balanced between tough and cerebral. He just seems well-rounded. Aragorn’s too kingly, Boromir’s kind of obnoxious, and Eomer seems like a cardboard cutout. From the film: Eomer all the way. He’s blond and burly and hot, and one of the most impressive shots of the last film is of him charging full-on into the camera while roaring out his battle yell. Wears nice armor, too. ---

I’ll take the boning option, since I’ve never wanted to be a dude, not even one in a fantasy novel. Boromir as first choice, Faramir as second. Aragorn does nothing for me (yet Mortensen as [Satan](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114194/) _does_), and I forget who Eomer even is. Of course, had my real druthers, I’d pick Legolas. ---
