[Exactly right](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-mcmichael-bryan-trial/954133/96). As MandaJo and others noted they probably really do think they are innocent or at least did and given stubborn human nature probably still do. The fact that they aren’t, not by a long shot, is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of these folks.
