Ronnie has nothing on Reggie - she’s shallow and self-centred, sure, but she’s nowhere near as actively malignant as he is. Ronnie’s never anything but Betty (and sometimes Cheryl)'s rival for Archie - Reggie’s an outright villain, as often as not. Ronnie needs to grow up, Reggie needs incarceration. Tellingly, when they’re given superpowered identities in the 60s, Reggie becomes Evilheart, the enemy of Archie’s Pureheart, but Ronnie never became a villain in Betty’s Super-Teen stories. (She never got superpowers at all until the 90s - the only one of the core 5 not to, as Juggie became Captain Hero. I never read the Super Teens series, but, if the synopses I’m seeing are correct, she became a shallow superheroine, not a villainess.) ---

In any case, I regard the Andrews-Lodge-Cooper triangle as similar to that between the main characters of _Dynasty_, with Ronnie having all the appeal of Alexis Carrington Colby (which is to say, scarcely any!). ---

Obviously Archie marries Veronica, then once he gets access to the Lodge gillions, keeps Betty in a nicely furnished apartment in the Upper East Side (of Riverdale) for those nights when Veronica is away being the UN ambassador for starving children in Krakhozia. ---

If I were writing Archie comics, I’d marry him with Veronica, too. The Archie Andrews/Hiram Lodge tension is well established, so with Archie in the family, there’d be a richer field to draw on for writing. Make that last part read, “The UN ambassador who starves children in Krakhozia.” It’s more in keeping with her snobbish, me-first attitude. I think Archie is nuts to waste time with that brunet minx. ---
