Betty, for reasons above-mentioned. Also, easier to get along with the in-laws. [hijack] Does anybody know what happened in the “Love Showdown”? That was supposed to settle the issue once and for all, but I pick up an Archie digest almost every week at the grocery store, and the new stories still have the same dynamic as the ones from 1955. I opened this thread expecting to find the answer to the _other_ eternal question – _“What does the **S** on Jughead’s sweater stand for?”_ [sup]So, I guess it stands for “Sodomite”? ;)[/sup] For what it’s worth, Betty can be just a duplicitous and manipulative as Veronica. (But she still gets my vote.) ---

Betty, no doubt. Veronica is his fantasy - once he has her, he’ll get tired of her very, very quickly. Betty, however, is the girl you stay with - if he plans to get married to either of them, Betty is his gal. If it’s just a teenage romance, I would have to say Veronica. But for the serious, forever kind of thing - Betty, no question. ---

He should marry Betty because he can emotionally dominate her; allowing him to openly date Veronica without her having the spine to leave him. That way he gets both, and, if he’s sufficiently sadistic in his domination of Betty, he can probably get her to do Veronica while he watches. The videotape would further secure the relationships. ---

I’ve gotta say this conversation is getting very scary! No, seriously, the real question is why does Archie get away with flip-flopping between both of them OPENLY! Both girls obviously know about the other one, but they are still friends! Okay, take away the really wierd situations you’ve mentioned before, doesn’t it seem wierd? But then again, Reggie still flirts with Midge, even though he has to know by now that Moose will rip out his spleen and dance on it. ---

First of all. I was so in love with a guy in college who looked just like archie. Cute, dark red hair, freckles, athlete…OH CHRIS!!! I MISS YOU. And as for the Love Showdown issues; It was almost as big a let down as the last Seinfeld. After Betty and Veronica lay down the law and demand that Archie choose, in the fourth issue we meet: Cheryl Blossom…a new red head in town. And all hell breaks loose as Archie temporarily chooses her. BOOO jar ---
