# Are 99% of Diamonds Now Conflict-Free?

The World Diamond Council’s info site, [diamondfacts.org](http://www.diamondfacts.org/) claims that 99 percent of diamonds are now from conflict-free sources under the Kimberley Process. If this is true it’s remarkable, but, true to my Doper roots, I remain skeptical. Anyone know if the Council’s 70 members (all diamond manufacturers and traders) are giving it to us straight? (and if so, why hasn’t this been publicized more?)
