I’ve seen the claim that [Tampico](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037346/) was named after the Stan Kenton hit, and that film has its’ fans.

[QUOTE=Kneepants Erasmus, the Humanist]
Was the song _Pretty in Pink_ written for the movie, or did it already exist? In any case I like both the song and movie.
Have I said too much in admitting to the latter?
[/QUOTE]

If I recall correctly, the film is named for the song but the song is on the film’s soundtrack and was a much bigger hit when tied to the film than it had been on its original release a few years earlier.

_That Thing You Do!_ is a great movie, but I’m not sure it counts.

I didn’t see it, but _Uptown Girls_ looked pretty horrible. In fact, it made me wonder exactly what the OP is wondering.

I think what happens is that a lot of time weak movies with a lame plots don’t have a good titles during production. So for release, they’ll slap on a moderately relevant song title for the movie title hoping that a association with a hit song may tempt more viewers.

[QUOTE=zamboniracer]
My own nomination for the thread is [Why Do Fools Fall in Love](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123324/) , which I enjoyed.
[/QUOTE]

Not to mention [Fools Rush In](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119141/) (though I gather that not very many people went to see it.)

[Satisfaction](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096037/), starring Justine Bateman, which I remember seeing on tv a few years later as “Girls of Summer”, starring Julia Roberts. I remember being amazed at the number of cliches that could be packed into a single movie.

[Mona Lisa](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091538/) was a great movie.

And, though I haven’t seen it myself, I’m told [The Crying Game](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104036/) ain’t half bad either
