I knew a man whose first name was Lotus. Unsurprisingly, he went by the name of Bud and said he had to fight every boy in school at least once. He’s gone now but would be in his late 80’s if he were still with us.

Saxifrage Russell is a male scientist in the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. I think that name is hot and is the least girly pretty flower name I have ever heard of.

I have a friend from Bosnia named Jasmin. Not sure if the name is related to the flower, though. It might just be a coincidence.

I have a male cousin named Sequoia. (His sister is named Willow, and his daughter is named Bodhi. Why yes, that _is_ the hippie branch of the family, can you tell?)

(No, that’s not a flower. But all the other Sequoias I’ve known have been female.)
