iPads and computers are tools. They can be used well, or they can be used poorly.
One thing that has been proven is you can’t just drop a bunch of iPads in a classroom and call it a day. Teachers who hate then are never going to use them effectively, and teachers who love them need training to use them to their full potential.
There are things they do well-- I love reading books on my iPad because I can quickly look up words, find an image of places being talked about, and look up things I want to know more about on Wikipedia.
Adaptive questions and spaced repetition is great on iPads. I use them a lot on my own for math and foreign-language vocab drills. The instant feedback is awesome.
Some people really take to video lectures. It’s not really my thing, but for people who learn that way, it is great.
There are some great creative tools out there. This is probably the most exciting aspect to me-- the easy ability to become a content creator.
Anyway, still just a tool, neither good nor evil.
