Until this thread I never knew that there were stores devoted to cupcakes.
I love whoopie pies. I used to eat them once a week. Then I noticed that my favorite brand, Wicked Good Whoopie Pies, was including a nutrition facts sticker on the back of the wrapper. 39g of fat in one damn whoopie pie! I don’t eat them more than once every few months now
Reporting from Calgary, AB. We’ve got Crave. They’re pretty darn yummy, even if they do have way too much frosting. I had a lovely cupcake delivered to my desk today, all wrapped up in it’s own little chinese food style take-out container and ribbon, as a reward for submitting a “near miss” card to our safety department.
I’ve never seen any here, but I’m in QLD so it might be different down south. No idea they were “fad”, either. There’s a few of those “Beard Papa” style stores around, though, if that counts.
I stand corrected: I just checked my recipe book, and Gramma’s recipe for gobs does, in fact, include shortening as an ingredient in the frosting, along with butter. I’m pretty sure you can just swap out the shortening for more butter, though.
Yeah, they’re still a fad here. In fact I just bought 18 mini cupcakes for my kids’ sleepover tomorrow because the art of baking seems to have deserted me since I moved here. The kids think they’re great with all the pretty icing and sprinkles etc but I wish they’d spend more effort on the quality of the cake itself. All that I’ve tried have been kind of dry.
First my hunger pains are stickin’ like duct tape.
Let’s hit up Magnolia and mack on some cupcakes.
No doubt that bakery’s got all da bomb frostins.
I love those cupcakes like McAdams loves Gosling.
Two, no six, no twelve, BAKERS DOZEN.
I told you that I’m crazy for these cupcakes, cousin.
