Which brings to mind a striking-if-off-topic fact with which I recently became acquainted:
… There is no such expression, “May you live in interesting times,” in Chinese. It is a non-Chinese creation, most probably American, that has been around for at least 30 or 40 years. The electors in Idaho say they are receiving a large number of communications on their home phones, email accounts, and social media. Some of those messages are apparently somewhat intemperate.
