No, it’s advertising - or spamming in internetspeak. And it’s not allowed on this site. If you want to discuss the questions posed in the first post of this thread, go for it. This chart continues to be complete bunk: [http://www.viridian.com/assets/marke...10\_NJ-PSEG.pdf](http://www.viridian.com/assets/marke...10_NJ-PSEG.pdf)

PSE&G’s rate is about 11.5 cents, and it has been since last October.

[http://www.pseg.com/family/pseandg/tariffs/electric/prior\_etariffs\_bpunj15.jsp](http://www.pseg.com/family/pseandg/tariffs/electric/prior_etariffs_bpunj15.jsp)
Click on “effective 8/9/2010.” Search for “Original Sheet No. 75.” The “With SUT” rate includes sales tax. Viridian’s advertised rate DOES NOT include sales tax, so the first number is the one to compare.

BTW, got an offer in the mail from Constellation Energy. 10.1 cents, fixed, for two years, plus a $150 Target gift card.

Wrong. Viridian’s rate includes the SUT. :smack:

> I was also extremely skeptical at first but ended up signing up as a Viridian associate in Maryland. It definitely sounded too good to be true, but I just couldn’t find the downside to it and figured the worst that could happen was I’d be out the $399 that they charge up front. It’s only been a month, but just like **skargo** I’ve already made that initial investment back and then some.
>
> Just to clear one thing up though, it’s not _all_ profit from here on out, (one thing I was kind of annoyed about not being explained up front, but that’s really the fault of the associate signing me up, not the company). Viridian charges a recurring annual fee to remain an “Associate” ($50) and $20/month for your personal website. I suppose if you’re not actively recruiting customers anymore you can cancel the website subscription though.
>
> There may be other energy companies that offer better compensation plans out there, but I already knew a handful of people who were Viridian associates so I went that route. And that was definitely a good thing for me, because I always come up with tons of questions and have a good group I can turn to for answers with this stuff. **MattyMatt** , I see the numbers you’re talking about on your bill, but it also says something about an average rate of $0.000000 per kWh, so there is obviously something wrong with the calculations happening to figure those numbers out. I’d be interested to see the itemized part of that bill that actually shows your kWh usage and the rates you’re being charged, maybe on the back (I’m not too familiar with the layout of PSE&G bills). One possibility for the discrepancy is if you are on a budget billing plan sponsored by the utility that spreads out your energy costs over the course of the year, switching providers can (especially in NJ) mess with that. The utility company may not factor your electricity use into the budgeted numbers if you switch providers, so the actual amount due would more closely reflect your energy use, which would be much higher in the middle of summer when energy demands are highest. In that case, however, you should still be saving money in the long run, as you wouldn’t now be making up the difference by overpaying in the winter to compensate. I don’t know if that’s what’s going on in your case or not, but it’s possible.
>
> So to answer OP’s questions, no, I can say pretty confidently that it’s not a scam. One big thing that made up my mind on that question is the fact that you are not required in any way to bring new associates on board (as **qpw3141** just mentioned). Sure, there are financial benefits to doing so, but you can do just fine by yourself too. We haven’t been online long enough here in MD to see any actual rate hikes or anything like that, so I can’t say for sure it doesn’t happen, but it doesn’t make sense for the company to want to drive away the customer base they just spent so much time and money recruiting, so I trust them when they say they will remain competitive. I suspect most of the complaints come from people who don’t understand how the budget billing system can be affected, then switch providers in the summer when usage is highest, and then get a huge bill they don’t expect without realizing that they will indeed pay less over the course of a year. That’s not necessarily that fault of the customer though. Whether the fault lies the associate for not explaining it properly, the company (Viridian or whoever) for not educating the associate well enough, or the local utility company (for printing somewhat misleading info on the bill) is debatable, but it’s probably some combination of all those in most cases.

We can I find the comp plan for Viridian?

Matt,
why are you still a customer? Why are you not signed up with the amazing, magical company you spoke of earlier? Why stay with a company, and post incomplete bills when there is no problem with switching back?

What are your ulterior motives?

My 3 meters are DEFINITELY saving money, and every one of my customers are, including PSEG customers.

Your game is dead and stinking, switch back or just go away.

@Skargo..

I’m still a customer because i wanted to see if maybe it was a 1st month error with yourrr magical company…So take it easy and stop coming at my neck…America Approved Energy isn’t open in the PSE&G market yet, that’s the only reason why i haven’t switched over…what motive could i have besides showing people both sides of Viridian’s claims..you read my story up above…And you say i posted a partial bill…are you aware of what a bill in the PSE&G market even looks like..?:dubious:..i blocked out the top part which shows my account number…the rest of the bill is what all PSEG bills look like..so your attempt to discredit me is…😕 beyond me…

Why don’t you stop getting defensive about it and post a legitimate reason for all to see as to why ones bill could possibly be more than your company advertises…Im already going to switch back before the next cycle because it’s an obvious “no brainer”…So answer my specific question since you obviously know it all, and i will gladly “go away”…

Just wanted to rebut some of the comments:

1. If the rates go way up after signing up for Viridian service, you can leave without a penalty. You cannot do this with some non-mlm companies. For example, look what WGES did to these customers:

> **[DropCatch.com](https://www.DropCatch.com/domain/marylandgreenpower.com)**
>
> DropCatch.com helps you secure expiring domain names.

That’s pathetic!

1. The requirement to “get 15” refers to customers, and not marketing associates. A pyramid requires someone to “put someone under them” in order to make a profit. A marketing company, albeit multilevel, requires the acquisition of customers. The following video on the subject is enlightening, as it compares conventional corporations to multi-level marketing companies to pyramids (now who do you think is a pyramid scheme!)

> **[DropCatch.com](https://www.DropCatch.com/domain/marylandgreenpower.com)**
>
> DropCatch.com helps you secure expiring domain names.

1. When comparing energy companies, one should compare apples to apples. Thus, you should look at the all-in prices. For example, in BG&E territory, it was standard offer service @ 0.119 per kWh vs Viridian @ 0.099 per kWh. These all-in prices should include generation charges, transmission and taxes.

2. If the corporate lawyers at Maryland Public Television and the City of Laurel can approve a MARKETING relationship with Viridian (Yes, they both are MARKETING associates as well as UConn and many more!), then it’s good for me too. Check out the NEWSPAPER article at (this is NOT a press release, which anybody can publish, but an article which was printed on paper and distributed to local subscribers):

I’m not looking for you to sign up and I’m not trying to convince you that I’m right, but I simply do not like inaccurate, emotion-laden postings tarnishing the reputation of a company which has in a short time sold more green energy than most of its competitors - and our Country NEEDS to go green!

I guess the problem is, if it works well, then there WILL be critics!

You cut off way more than your address at the top of the bill. You also cut off t “all-in” generation + transmission costs per kWh.

By what I see, your bill is higher because your kWh usage is higher. Your issue is like someone who owned a Ford Taurus and drove it 20 miles a day, then bought a Prius and drove it 40 miles a day and then complained that he is not saving money on gasoline.

If your usage is equal, then you will be paying less.

Nobody should be quoting you exactly how much you will save. Savings are determined by taking a weighted average of the electricity costs over a year. Using that metric, customers in Connecticut and New Jersey HAVE been saving compared to the utility’s standard service option rates.

Post your entire bill - you can use whiteout to hide your address and account number, and then we’ll see the truth.

Why you would kind of think maybe it should be closed? It has been civil, within the rules(mostly but mods have fixed any transgression) and it’s been educational. 😕

I know you are a fellow associate in Viridian, but I think your tactics are questionable here.
I have not once tried to generate any business from this thread, I am just trying to educate about Viridian and their practices, yet you have linked to your site multiple times, and now want people to plug their email in??? How about acting professional and not trying to be greedy for a change?

It’s like you’re having a quiet party and a load of strangers walk into your spare room and start having an argument.
