I _think_ I’ve gotten one for my birthday. At least there is a large box in the front hall with Keurig printed on it. I never really wanted one, but I’ll gladly take it. Now, all I have to do is convince my wife to go on little raiding parties of her breakroom at work. She can keep all the froo-froo flavored varieties; I’ll keep the coffee flavored ones. ---

HELL NO! Unless you have disposable income. We had basically the same coffee habits you do. $50 a month on coffee was not worth the convenience. It could be less if you stick to one flavor/type. But, you won’t be able to resist trying several types. Also, unless you use more than one K-cup per mug, you’ll be having 6 - 8 oz. servings. Unless you like really weak coffee. ---

I’m a new Keurig owner, and I love the thing. I’ve been wanting to try coffees from different sources for a while now. I’m the only one in the family who drinks coffee, and the idea of buying a one pound bag as a “tester” and then HATING the stuff didn’t sit well with me. After I bought the machine and inhaled the K-cup variety that came with it, I wanted MORE. I ordered two different variety assortments from Amazon, and I’ve had such FUN trying new flavors, new roasts, new blends. I’ve even found a few types that I could barely drink, and it would have killed me to buy a one-pound bag of those coffees, only to throw them away after trying to drink the first cup. I’ll probably invest in the eco-pod, or whatever the name is for a reusable K-cup (the eco-jobbie is supposed to work better than the refillable Keurig product), but right now, I’m having so much fun with my coffee smorgasbord! I do prefer the bold coffees, but the flavored ones can be a nice treat. ~VOW ---

I had similar questions back in February when I started this thread: [I don't get the love for Keurig - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=641818) In your case I think your sentence: “In the morning, she and I split a 12 cup pot in 4 oversized coffee mugs.” says all you need in order to decide that K Cups are not for you. A cup of coffee is considered 6 oz. for some reason, and Keurig machines will provide with slightly less than 6, 8, or 10 oz. depending up your machine. At $.50 a pop you’re looking at $6.00 a day for your morning habit. ---

My assumption was even worse than bra size. In fact, I’ll spoiler it - don’t look if you’re squeamish: I thought it meant one of those cups women use to hold their menstrual flow. It’s the eco-alternative to tampax. If you like strong coffee, I recommend against the Keurig. Also, at your level of consumption, the lack of caffeine could leave you with a headache. Caffeine needs time to soak out of the beans, and these things force the hot water through very quickly. So, like espresso, you get a lot of flavor quickly, but much less caffeine. That’s also why a percolater gives more caffeine for the same volume of coffee than a drip coffee maker. [http://weeklyroast.com/blog/coffee-and-caffeine-which-brewing-method-has-the-most.html](http://weeklyroast.com/blog/coffee-and-caffeine-which-brewing-method-has-the-most.html) Add to that in order to get a decent level of flavor out of the thing, you’ll probably resort to really dark roasts, further reducing the caffeine level. there’s also the amount of waste it produces. Using one in an office it stopped every 35 minutes or so for someone to empty the used cup bin, which was an unnecessarily yucky procedure. The way you had to reach in to get it out, you’d have used coffee up to your forearm byt he time you were done jiggling it back into place. ---

The refillable cup is called an “eko-brew.” I haven’t tried it yet, but my son loves it.
