I got a bag where some of the M&Ms had arms and legs, eyes and a mouth. Tasted OK though. ---

I don’t remember when they started adding the blue ones, but for me that was the beginning of the end of my relationship with M&Ms. ---

I have been searching for, someone to say - what happened to the perfectly shaped M&M’s that used to be so - perfectly round, dome shaped with the M’s stamped consistantly on each one. I remember some other Candy Coated Chocolate Candies that were similar to M&M’s, which were made for a time concurrently as M&M’s but do not see them on the shelves any more. Were they bought out by Mars? Does anyone else remember those candies? They are what I think the shape is now for M&M’s. M&M’s now have that the same wobbily surface like - I cannot remember the name of the Candy Coated Chocolate’s name. I wonder if M&M’s bought that company and uses their production equipment/techniques now and that is why the shell is no longer perfectly shaped. I have not been able to find any candy company that Mars purchased that also made Candy Coated Chocolates either. I cannot find the name of the competing company that made the Candy Coated Chocolates either. ---

My best guess is you’re thinking of Sixlets. And the quality control on M&Ms continues to slide. Last bag I had, they were slipping in a bunch of E’s and 3’s. 😃 ---

As long as this thread has been resurrected… I’ve found that Peanut M&Ms are different from how they were a long time ago. ISTM that more of them are misshapen than they were a couple of decades ago, and the peanuts don’t taste as good as they used to. It’s like they take all of the rejected peanuts that aren’t good enough to eat on their own, or to even make peanut butter from, and use them in the candies. ---

Not that I care a whole lot, but why does a thread I started 4 years ago, about the shape of M&Ms, belong in Cafe Society? It’s not about cooking, it’s about the shape of a piece of candy. ---
