Kangaroos (and T-Rexes too) will do a whole lot more of that as soon as they develop [hands with opposable thumbs](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=16164385#post16164385), which they are working on developing just as fast as they can. ---

I don’t see anything that indicates the kangaroo is doing anything other than scratching itself. It’s not impossible it’s playing with its genitalia, but it’s not even clear the animal is male. ---

They sell quite a bit of kangaroo scrotum in Australia as little purses. I have been told the purses with scratch marks are due to roos scratching at kangaroo ticks. ---
