As linked above the giant Buddha statues are disappearing. And to compare life in China to any western country is ludicrous. China monitors the daily life in draconian ways. The statue has nothing to do with war. Guan Yu was a historical figure who fought to uphold the corrupt Han Dynasty. The statue reinforces Confucian values such as fealty to the state. ---

And indeed I’ve broken lots of rules while I have been here. You understand the article you have linked is from a state sponsored travel agency? You are not going to find factual reporting about the linked issues inside of China. China has recently banned VPNs so its very difficult and dangerous for ordinary people to have access to banned points of view. China actively tries to control international opinion through manipulated news. Wow way to deflect from the actual points being put to you. Yes, what’s happening in Xinjiang is terrible. I already said that (unprompted, in fact). Now, back on topic. Do you concede that “The Bhuddas are disappearing” is a laughably false statement based on a cherry pick of googling for statues being demolished?
