Are retired US Presidents veterans?

Yes, the Truman’s were not wealthy. Infact when President Truman left office I think his pension was only about $25,000 per year. Also Truman and his Wife upon leaving office provided their own transportation by their family car back to his home state. This shabby treatment all for a man who helped end World War Two probably two years earlier than it would have ended. In contrast, Nixon who left office in disgrace under impeachment got a Chopper ride from the White House Lawn to a plane to take him and his family back to California. Question, did Nixon receive any long term compensation such as a pension after being booted out?

He wasn’t booted out, he resigned. Since he resigned, he kept all benefits due to a former president. Impeached and convicted presidents would not.

Ravenman, I stand corrected, he did resigned. However he still left in disgrace>

I’m almost certain his pension was far less that $25,000 when he left office. I think you mean after they gave him a Presidential pension perhaps and I am not sure of the amount. But his own pension before that change was minimal.
